(Dipper pov)

Bill drives us back to his house where I see Kill setting up the equipment for rehearsal. Before Bill gets out I quickly grab his arm. "Hey, please don't tell anyone about my eyesight issue."

He gives me a reassuring smile. "My lips are sealed, Pinetree."

I let go as we both get out of the car. "About time you both got here. Does it really take you 30 minutes just to suck face in private?"

"Enough Kill. Let's get this started." He grabs his drumsticks. "Let's start with the one I was telling you guy's about yesterday."

Kill get's his bass situated as I do the same with the guitar, Bill sitting behind his drums. With a few breathes to calm myself we get started.
"Uh huh, life's like this
Uh huh, uh huh, that's the way it is
'Cause life's like this
Uh huh, uh huh, that's the way it is

Chill out, what ya yellin' for?
Lay back, it's all been done before
And if, you could only let it be, you will see
I like you the way you are
When we're driving in your car
And you're talking to me one on one, but you become

Somebody else
'Round everyone else
You're watching your back
Like you can't relax
You try to be cool
You look like a fool to me
Tell me

Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated?
I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else
Gets me frustrated
Life's like this, you
And you fall, and you crawl, and you break
And you take what you get, and you turn it into
Honesty and promise me I'm never gonna find you faking
No, no, no

You come over unannounced
Dressed up like you're somethin' else
Where you are and where it's at you see
You're making me
Laugh out when you strike your pose
Take off all your preppy clothes
You know you're not fooling anyone
When you become

Somebody else
'Round everyone else
You're watching your back
Like you can't relax
You try to be cool
You look like a fool to me
Tell me

Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated?
I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else
Gets me frustrated
Life's like this, you
And you fall, and you crawl, and you break
And you take what you get, and you turn it into
Honesty and promise me I'm never gonna find you faking

No, no, no
No, no, no
No, no, no
No, no, no
No, no, no (no, no)

Chill out, what ya yellin' for?
Lay back, it's all been done before
And if you could only let it be
You will see

Somebody else
'Round everyone else
You're watching your back
Like you can't relax
You try to be cool
You look like a fool to me
Tell me

No, no, no"

I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket once the song ends. I take my phone out and read the text my dad just sent me. "Everything okay, Pinetree?"

"Yeah, my dad just wants me home and says he has to work late tonight. I should get going." I pack up the guitar.

"Hey, wait let me give you a ride home at least."

"Bill you really don't have to-"

"Come on, Dipper. You live all the way on the other side of town now, it will take you hours to walk there by yourself. Just let me drive you."

"You are stubborn and are going to do it no matter what I say aren't you."

"You bet I am." He smirks slightly, spinning his car keys on his finger as I roll my eyes.

I put the guitar in back seat of his car and get in as he drives me through town, his hand just gently resting on my thigh as we settle into a comfortable silence.

"So why did you and Kill start a band in the first place?"

"Oh that's simple. We think all the other bands that compete at Battle of the Bands sucks and we both can play a lot of different instruments. So we thought why not form our own band. He wanted to do bass because he likes how the bass sounds, and I always loved beating down on the drums so the only thing missing was a lead singer and guitarist. When we started, our cousin Tad lived nearby so he did the guitar and singing but he moved so we had to find someone else instead."

"And that's when you had the auditions at the school?"

"Yup."

"Why did you do that flash mob of the Bruno Mars song?"

"Oh that. I....I had liked you for the past year or so but wasn't sure if you really swung that way. So that was to test the waters and get a reaction. If you just laughed it off or was a dick about it I would know you were straight. If you got red in the face then I would know you like dudes."

"It was embaressing. You could have just asked."

"I doubt you would have told me. So how long have you liked me for?"

"What?"

"I mean obviously you have liked me for a while but how long?"

"......I admired you in 8th grade, but freshman year when I started realizing I was gay I figured out that I liked you a lot."

He doesn't say anything besides a soft chuckle.
