Found Family (HoO, Mortal AU)

THE CAFETERIA

A/N: wanted to give the side/background characters a lil more time since it's been a LOT of Jason and Leo lately. So basically going to random tables in the cafeteria.

[CECIL MARKOWITZ]

'The Hermes Kids'. That's what everyone called them.

They got the name from Mr Brunner after breaking into his office, hacking his computer and sending their parents an email saying the school would be closed the next day.  Cecil had no clue what Hermes meant but Julia found it funny so it stuck.

It had always been the five of them- well, just Cecil and Travis in freshman year. Travis was always moody because Connor wasn't there. Then in sophomore year they made friends with Julia and Alice, too. Instantly, they were the trouble makers.

Someone stole something? The 'Hermes Kids'. School bathrooms overflowing? The 'Hermes Kids'. Fire alarm set off? You know it. Other.. things. The 'Hermes Kids' are suspended.
They had to make school fun somehow. Math class was not fun. So they ditched. Although it wasn't always easy, since Julia, Alice and Connor had biology at the time they had math. Connor insisted on staying in biology to talk to Nico but thankfully he was starting to get over him. Travis, on the other hand, was going full simp mode.

[TRAVIS STOLL]

Katie Gardner? She was a goddess. He'd had a crush on her since- forever. Longer than forever. But he was not leaving his friends for some girl, even if she was Katie Gardner. So he spent time with both his friends and Katie.

Every time he went over to her, however, his friends started jeering and being idiots. If she came over to him, his friends would nonstop tell embarrassing stories. Travis was a very embarrassing person, so there was a lot of stories.

Katie came over and sat down beside him. Travis knew she didn't hate him.
"So," Alice grinned. "When he was in junior year he-"
"Shut up."
"Tell me later," Katie said to Alice with a laugh.

[JULIA FEINGOLD]

She slowly pushed Travis closer to Katie. He had claimed he was in love with her for the three years that Julia knew him. Now he wouldn't even sit closer to her, like a looser.

Travis pushed Julia back, while trying to look natural. Julia pushed Travis harder. Travis pushed Julia off her seat.
"Ow-" Julia muttered.
"Oh my gosh!" Katie stood up.
"She's fine," Connor said. "Julia, get up."
Julia stood up and sat back down.
"That's.. not normal." Katie muttered.
"Sure it is-" Julia grinned, knocking Travis off his seat.

[ALICE MIYAZAWA]

She helped Travis up, hoping one of them wouldn't get a concussion. Cecil was enough trouble back in September. He refused to talk about it.

Alice went back to doing her homework. She could somehow concentrate better with all the screaming around her. Connor offered to give Alice the answers to his homework, but Alice refused. She didn't mind doing homework. Most people thought the five of them were dumb with bad grades. They weren't. Okay, their grades weren't always the best but they weren't terrible. Their behavior on the other hand.. Well, it was best to not talk about it.

Okay, everyone deserved a family, both blood related and through friendship. Connor was lucky enough to have the best families ever. Although his father wasn't a nice guy, he had Travis and his mom. His friends were the most amazing people, too.
