Found Family (HoO, Mortal AU)

REYNA AVILA RAMIREZ-ARELLANO

She was walking around the house, trying to stop people from breaking everything.
Travis Stoll walked up to her. "Hypothetically, how mad would you be if I broke-"
"Very." Reyna said, before walking into the kitchen.

"Leo Valdez, get off my table!" She yelled, as Annabeth Chase and Piper McLean were getting down, laughing hysterically.
"PLAY SLIM SHADY AGAIN!" Leo shouted, jumping off the table.
"Please don't!" Will shouted back.
"Talk to Valentina about the music, not me." Reyna left the kitchen, going upstairs to make sure no one was up there. It was bad enough that she'd have to clean downstairs by Monday, never mind cleaning upstairs, too.

Her mother was out for the weekend and Reyna decided not to go to her dad's. Then she stupidly decided to throw a party.
She thought everyone was downstairs, until she seen someone standing in the shadows, almost blending in. He was wearing dark clothes and leaning against the wall with a drink in his hand, staring into it.

"Sorry, di Angelo. Can you stay downstairs?"
Nico didn't look up from his drink, swirling it around the cup. "My chauffeur will be here in a minute."
"You're going home?"
"Yep."
"But the party hasn't even started!" Reyna didn't know why she was trying. Di Angelo wasn't one of the 'normal' kids. Maybe that's why Reyna felt sorry for him.

"I'm going home." Nico sighed, downing the last of his drink.
"Hazel mightn't want to go home. Just enjoy yourself."
"REYNAA!" Reyna heard one of the Stoll brothers shout. Their voices were almost identical, just like them, even though Travis was a year older. "I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU ARE, BUT YOUR CUPBOARD DOOR FELL OFF. DUNNO HOW!"
"I am in so much trouble." Reyna muttered. "I need to go fix that. Think about staying."

"Let me help you," Nico said. "I'll just text my chauffeur."
"Thank you! Come on." Reyna walked downstairs with Nico. She went into the kitchen, Connor Stoll holding the door.
"It was Connor." Travis said as soon as Reyna walked over to them.
"It was Travis." Connor said at the same time.
"Uhhh. Him?" Travis suggested, pointing at Nico.
"He's not been in the kitchen, idiots." Reyna said, taking the door off Connor.
"Yeah. Don't blame Nicolas." Connor said, throwing his arm around Nico who quickly pushed it away.

"I'll just say it was both of you." Reyna sighed. "Now how do I put it back on without a screwdriver?"
Leo Valdez came running over. "Reyna? Valentina won't play Slim Shady again. Oh a broken door! Haha."
Reyna rolled her eyes. "Poor you."
"I'll fix it if you make Valentina play Slim Shady."
"I can fix it myself, thank you very much!"
"You're not doing a great job." Leo took a screwdriver out of his pocket. Reyna did not know why he had one, but chose not to question it. "Now go tell Valentina-"
"Yeah, yeah. Okay." Reyna walked off to Valentina Diaz, who was in charge of the music.

Finally she got Valentina to play Slim Shady and went back to Leo, who already had the door fixed.
"Thanks, Reyna! I'm off to find Pipes!"
Nico was now sitting on the ground, petting one of Reyna's dogs.
"How on earth did he get inside?" Reyna asked.
"It was Connor. Shit no, Travis." Connor said, before running off.
"He's so cute! What's his name?" Nico asked, petting the dog.
"Aurum. I have another dog outside."
"Aww. Hi, Aurum."
"I'll leave you to it!" Reyna walked off.

He didn't plan on drinking. He felt sick at the thought of it.
The party was loud, people having a blast. He knew Reyna mostly threw the party to get people to vote for her to be the head of the student council rather than Octavian and people fell for it. Smart idea, though.

Jason watched people around him, standing alone. Leo Valdez was standing on the table, Will Solace beside him. Jason watched Leo, who was grinning. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.
Stop.
He still couldn't help but feel happier when he seen Valdez smile.

She found Jason, who was watching Leo and now Will Solace on the table.
"Hey, Grace." Reyna said, standing beside him.
"Hi." Jason looked away from the table.
"Are you sober?"
"Not anymore." Jason grabbed a drink, looking back at the table.
Just then, Drew Tanaka walked past. Who invited her?

"Hi, Jason." She said, laughing. Jason just nodded, drinking slowly as if he hated it.
"You look good." She said, stepping closer as if Reyna weren't even there.
Then Jason kissed her. Why on earth would he do that? Reyna didn't know.
"Bleh." Reyna muttered, walking away. Leo was jumping down off the table, Solace shouting after him.

Leo jumped down from the table. He'd drank a lot, now he just felt sick.
"Leo!" Will called. Leo didn't look back.
He just stayed hidden for a while. In middle of a crowd, his feelings muddled. It wasn't until he walked into the lounge he found Piper, sitting on the couch alone. Leo sat beside her. She looked beautiful, as always. No wonder so many people fell for her. Including Jason Grace, apparently. Though he was kissing Drew Tanaka. 

"Hi, Leo." Piper wrapped an arm around him.
"Hey, Pipes."
"You okay?"
"Mm," Leo rested his head against her shoulder, sighing. "Have you ever fell in love with someone you know would never love you back?"
"Hah. I have." Piper said. Leo noticed her eyes following Annabeth Chase, who was talking to Grover Underwood. "Why? Who's the lucky person."
"He.." Leo's voice trailed off, noticing how stupid he sounded. "Doesn't matter."
"I think falling in love matters very much, Leo Valdez."

The rest of the night passed in a blur. The sun was rising before everyone was gone. Finally everyone left, or so she thought. She lay on the couch, sighing.
"Reyna. Hi."
Reyna opened her eyes. "Jason! You fucking terrified me- what are you doing?"
"Ah- sorry. Thought you might need some help cleaning up."
"It's fine. You've been here all night. Go home and get some sleep." She closed her eyes again.
"Nah- uhm. I'm not tired. You sleep, I'll start cleaning up."

Reyna sat up. There was something wrong with Jason. He didn't want to go home.
"Jason, it's alright. I have all day to clean."
"Please let me help." It sounded less like an offer and more like a plead. As if it would be Reyna doing the favour.
"Alright. If you really want to help, you can start by picking up all the plastic cups."
"Thank you." He sounded somewhat relieved.

Reyna stood up, Jason walking away to start cleaning. She decided not to question it. Or question why he stupidly decided to kiss Drew Tanaka.
