I walk through the doors of my new school for the year. I decided to enroll myself into an exchange program just to get away from Norway for a while. I love my home. I just felt a calling to something else here in America. I'm just not sure what that is quite yet.

I look down at my paper schedule and around the hallway, looking at room numbers as I go. This system is all very confusing to me and there's no sort of indication telling me where I need to go. My eyes peel away from my schedule as I look towards the beautiful voice, peacefully entering my ears.

"Hi, my name's Yrsa. I noticed you're new here and look a little lost. We have some time before classes start. I can show you around if you'd like," she asks in the softest voice I could ever imagine.

I look down at her and away from my paper. She's not too much smaller than me but just enough. I can't help but notice her fiery, ginger hair and her freckles. She's been kissed by so many angels and I can see why. Her eyes are the most beautiful things I have ever seen. They remind me of the mountains back home. The most perfect shade of green and brown. She's absolutely gorgeous. SAY SOMETHING!

"My name's Bear and you guessed correctly. I'm very lost and would appreciate the help," I say in a polite manner, returning the kindness she showed me.

Her cheeks flush with the most prettiest shade of pink, almost as pretty as the shade of her lips. The green dress she has on, paired with her fair skin, makes her look like a princess. No, a goddess, my goddess. I shouldn't say that yet, but I can't help myself picturing her as mine.

"Hey, if you need a place to sit during lunch, my best friend, Lillie, and I usually sit at the picnic table outside. If you'd like to join us, you're always welcome," she says and flashes me a smile.

How is she getting even more beautiful by the second?

"I will take you up on that offer, thank you. It was very nice to meet you, Yrsa."

She waves goodbye to me. I hate that she has to leave already, but we both have classes to attend to. I could talk to her for hours. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to soon.

Classes go by super slow. I'm just looking at the clock, waiting for that bell to ring so I can meet Yrsa for lunch. I can't stop thinking about her for some reason. I just met her, but she was so polite and kind to me. She made me feel welcome here. I've had eyes on me all day from other girls in my classes, but the only eyes I want looking at me are hers. I can tell she's different and not just. . . hungry like these other girls.

Finally, the bell rings. I quickly pack up my things. I walk out into the courtyard and see that fiery, ginger hair from before. I see another girl sitting with her. That must be Lillie. I take a seat next to Yrsa and she turns to me, her eyes practically popping out of her head.

"Geez, Bear, you scared me! I'm glad you decided to join us."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," I say, immediately regretting putting any kind of fear into her.

"No, it's fine, really. I just didn't hear you walk up is all."

I turn towards Lillie to introduce myself.

"Hey, I'm Bear. You must be Lillie."

"That's me! I see Yrsa's been talking about me to you already. I hope she said all good things."

"Oh, of course she did," I chuckle at her response.

"Hey, Bear, where's your lunch," Yrsa asks me.

"I just forgot to pack mine this morning, and I heard american school food is terrible."

"You're not wrong there. Here, you can have the other half of my sandwich. It's peanut butter and jelly," she says as she hand me her sandwich.

"No, no. You need to eat more than I do. I'll be okay. My classes are done for the day, so I was gonna go look around town and grab some food," I say, getting slightly protective.

It's nice of her to offer me her food, but I couldn't bare for her to go hungry.

"Are you sure, it's really no problem," she says almost concerned.

"I'm sure. You could come with me if you'd like? I would ask you to come along too, Lillie, but I don't think 3 people on a motorcycle is a good idea."

"Oh, don't worry about me. I was about to go home as well. My classes are done too and I have a lot of homework already," Lillie says to me.

"Oh, but Lillie, I drove you in my car this morning. I'm sorry, Bear, but I gotta take Lillie home."

Before I could say anything, Lillie interrupts.

"No, you don't. I can drive, just gimme your keys."

"Are you sure, Lil? I don't mind taking you home."

I love how she thinks of her friends. Either that, or she just doesn't want to go with me. The two girls bicker for a bit and Yrsa gives up her keys to Lillie.

"I'll see you two later. Keep her safe for me," Lillie exclaims as she walks away.

I will keep Yrsa safe. I couldn't live with myself if I put her in harms way. Yrsa packs up her stuff and follows me to my motorcycle. I pull out my helmet and put it on her. It engulfs her head. She looks adorable.

"First things first, we're gonna stop and get you a helmet. My treat. If you want that is. Mine is fine for now, but we should both be wearing helmets," I say to her as I put her chin strap in place.

"Oh, I can't ask you to do that. I do agree we both need to be wearing helmets, but I can pay for mine," she says as she adjust the helmet comfortably on her head.

"We'll see, but I'm not making any promises that I won't hand them my card first."

She throws me a playful little scowl. I hop onto my bike and she follows behind me.

"Hold on tight," I tell her.

I wanted to add "and never let go," but not yet. Not yet.
