I just wanted to establish a few things to help clear up any confusion or just help the fanfic go a little smoother. Reading this isn't necessary for the plot of the story but rather serves as a guide.
Firstly, at it's core, this narrative is a love letter to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's move: Eternals. While most people probably came here to fulfill their Druig slowburn desires after seeing the film (because let's be honest, he stole EVERYONES hearts), I feel like it should probably be mentioned that in order to enjoy this fanfic, Eternals should be watched beforehand.
Secondly, while seeing the movie is the major source of muse for writing this, the comic series: The Eternals plays a somewhat decent role as well. The film adaptation left out a lot of things that I saw to be important to the story, such as different power/ability showcases and motives behind various actions.
The main character's name is Akiva, and the story is written in third person. That being said, if you're used to fanfics with y/n or narratives written in the second person (i.e. using "you" instead of "i" or "he/she/they") please feel free to insert yourself. I try not to use too many descriptors of Akiva for that reason. I wanna cater to your wishes as readers <3
When you're reading and recognize a reference to something, marvel related or otherwise, comment on them!! I love to see what things people are catching or can point out and I tend to make call backs to other things I've seen in MCU tv shows, films, and Marvel Comics really frequently.
If you see weirdly placed exclamation points or awkward bolding--it's probably just because it's a snippet or reference to something that took place in the comics way back in the 70's.
I just like the panels the quotes came from. I think they're...retro.
