Lesson18: The arranged marriage (prt3)

"First you purchased the entire building and bribed the Sendo's bodyguards then you and your friends interrupted the wedding of my son, what do you intend to achieve in all of that? After all the things that my family did for you all this time, this is how you will repay us!"

Keisuke steps forward while all three of his friends stand behind him.

"Mrs. Nagae, I appreciate your family for looking after me while my parents are away. You and Shohei-senpai did many things for my sake, you even gave Saki and Hideya scholarship at your school, so yes this is the payment for all of that" – Keisuke bravely said then he brings out the piece of paper from his coat's pocket and slams it down the table in front of him making a loud bang, it's a checked for seven billion USD.

"I will buy all Nagae's assets and pay the debts that your family has, just stop the marriage! If this isn't enough I will give all the money and businesses that are listed under my name!"

The four corners of the room were filled with silence after hearing that. Being one of the wealthiest families in Japan, Nakahara can buy anything anytime they wanted. Keisuke's share from his family's wealth alone can take multiple companies all over the country and abroad. Other families like Sendo and Nagae are well aware of what the famous family is capable of. 

Rie and her guardian lawyer can't believe what the teenager said leaving them speechless.

"Mrs. Nagae, if you think money is greater than your son's happiness then I'll buy it just don't make him marry someone he doesn't love" – Keisuke uttered.

"Kei-kun" – Saki is on the verge of crying.

Hideya smiles as he looks at the ginger "Well said Keisuke" – he whispered.

"Keisuke, you don't have to do this" – Shohei said as he clenches his fist.

Mrs. Nagae notices Keisuke's trembling hands on the table and beneath it is the check amounting to seven billion USD with the signature of Keisuke Nakahara. She remembers what her son told him "Keisuke... Keisuke is my friend!" so she chuckles breaking the silence which surprises everyone.

She stares straight at Keisuke's blue eyes "You really are Sera's son" – she said as she crosses her arms on her chest "I guess I could call off the wedding"

"What?! You can't do that?! An agreement is an agreement!" – exclaimed Rie's guardian "Don't tell me that you're believing what this brat is saying?! He's just a kid!"

"I still have the last decision about this, I'm the mother of the groom" – she declared "And besides we haven't signed any contract or agreement so we can still hold the wedding for now" – she added that made the lawyer speechless.

"Mrs. Nagae, my parents are expecting the wedding" – Rie.

"I'll be calling your parents to discuss what happened here, I'm sorry my dear but I can't wager the happiness of my son" – the old lady said with a sentimental tone.

Shohei's eyes shine as the tears start to build up both sides but he manages to keep them at bay. He never thought that his mother who is very strict can say such kind words to him. Their relationship as mother and son is no more than a business partner as Shohei is expected to be the hare for most of the family businesses, they don't have that much bonding.

The wedding was called off and everyone was asked to leave the hotel that is now owned by Keisuke.

Shohei and his mother were the only people left inside the room.

"You can leave now" – the mother said as she turns her back to her son and face the window.

"I know I shouldn't be saying this to you but..." – Shohei paused "Thank you mother" – he said then he walks away leaving the old lady in the room.
