Chapter 5

Clarke's pov

I just walked out of Lexa's tent and released a breath I didn't even know I was holding.  When she said she had something to tell me all I could think about was her possibly reciprocating my feeling for her, I can't wait for my initiation ceremony. Right now I need to go and find Anya so I can learn trigedasleng. I walk around for a bit and see her talking to someone. I walk up to them and wait until their conversation is over. I was about to say something but Anya beat me to it. 

Anya - Hello Clarke. How did your talk with Heda go?

Clarke - It was good. 

Anya - Good. Anyway, this is Lincoln. Lincoln this is Clarke although I'm sure you already knew that. 

He nods his head. 

Lincoln - Yes. It is good to meet you Clarke. 

Clarke - And you.

Anya - Lincoln is also a healer so he will be with you later when you go and speak with Nyko okay. 

Clarke - Okay. 

Anya - Come with me. We have much to do yet. 

I followed Anya and after a short while we reached a hut. 

Anya -  Right so the next thing on the list is teaching you trig. Come sit and we shall begin. 

Clarke - Okay.

Once I reply I go and sit down at the table with Anya. 

Anya - The first thing I am going to teach you is how to introduce yourself. You do this by saying, Ai laik and then your name and the clan you are from. If I was introducing myself I would say Ai laik Anya kom Trikru. Now you introduce yourself.

Clarke - Ai laik Klark kom Skaikru soon to be Trikru.

Anya - Good you learn fast and your pronunciation is good. 

Clarke - Thank you.

Anya - Now you know hoe to introduce yourself you need to learn the basics. So first thing. Hello is simple it is Heya. Hi is Hei. Welcome is mounin. Goodbye is leidon/leida. How are you is ha yu. what's up is sochu. im glad you are writing all this down so that you can actually remember. you are smart sky girl. please is beja. thank you is mochof and thanks is chof. these phrases will enable you to have a basic conversation with anyone in the village.

This is so much information to take in but im not going to let it show that its a lot. i have learned how to steel my expression and come across stoic while I've been here. 

Anya - Now I'm going to teach you what you need to know for your initiation if that is still what you want?

Clarke - Yes of course it is what I want. I am on the ground now and I want to be one of you. The people in the sky wanted me dead and my mother sent me down here to die. 

Anya - Very well then. So i will have your ceremonial armour sorted for next week and i will do your braids as there is a certain way your hair should be braided on the ceremony. you will choose a weapon and also a job within the clan like we talked about with heda I am guessing you will choose healer but that is completely up to you. One other thing you have to do will be bow before Heda and pledge your allegiance to her and the coalition. Now the phrase which has to be said is specific so you may want to write this down. It is, Ai badan yu op en nou moun which means I serve you and no other. Then you say ai laik your subject en a subject gon oso kongeda which means I am your subject and a subject of our coalition. Then after that heda will tell you to rise and then the celebration will begin. 

Clarke - Okay Mochof.

Anya - Pro. I have a few more things to teach you then we will get dinner with Lincoln and after that i will introduce you to Nyko. 

Anya continued to teach me new words and phrases for around another hour, she gave me a run down of all the different clans and what to expect when I meet them and then we went to the meal tent and Lincoln joined us with trays of food.

Clarke - Hei Lincoln,  mochof for the food. 

Lincoln looked at shocked at me and Anya looked at me with a sense of pride. 

Lincoln - Wow Klark you have only had one session with Anya and you are already able to speak some trigedasleng. Good job you are a fast learner. 

Clarke - Mochof but it was not me really i just have a great teacher. 

Anya looked at me and gave me a little smile when I said that.

Anya - Well I had a good student. 

I smiled and started eating. We didn't really talk much during dinner but I have noticed that they only talk when it's necessary they are unlike the people in the sky because they talk and talk just to fill silence but I have learnt to appreciate the silence, and yes i said the people in the sky because i don't consider them my people any more. Trikru are my people now and that makes me happy. 

Anya - Right come on then skaiprisa we must go and see Nyko now, would you like to accompany us Lincoln? 

Clarke - Okay.

Lincoln- Yes of course, I haven't seen Nyko today.

I quickly cleared all our dishes and then followed them to the healers tent. 

Anya - Nyko. This is Klark, she wants to be a healer when she becomes one of our clan. 

Nyko - It is an honour to meet you Klark, Do you have any medical knowledge?

Clarke - Sha I do however it may be different because the medicine I learned was more advanced in the sky. 

Nyko - That is fine. I shall show you how I do things here on the ground and perhaps you can show me a few healing ways of the sky?

Clarke - Sha that would be great. 

Nyko - Okay. Great so you can come here on the days you aren't training and I assume Anya has started to teach you trig? 

Clarke - Sha.

Nyko - Okay. Anya? I think we should split Klark's days as she will need days to train and days to rest correct?

She responds with a head nod.

Nyko - So on the days she is not training she will be in here helping and we can both teach her trig while with her so she is not missing out. Sha?

Anya - Sha Nyko, that works with me. Klark? What do you think?

Clarke - Uhm I guess that could work but how will I write down the words and phrases to remember if we are going to be doing things while I learn?

Anya - You do not have to worry about that as I will make sure to make it easier by teaching you words and phrases associated with what we are doing and I'm sure Nyko will do that too. Okay?

Clarke - Okay.

Nyko - I will do that too. Do not worry Klark you will be fine.

Clarke - Mochof Nyko. 

Anya - Right. It is getting late and we are starting early tomorrow soyou should go and get some rest Artigas will take you he is outside. 

Clarke - Mochof. I will see you in the morning. Leidon.

Anya, Lincoln & Nyko - Leidon Klark. 

Once I get back to my tent i say goodnight to Artigas and tell him to go and get some rest to which he hesitantly did. I laid don in my bed and succumbed to sleep.
