"Y/n!" Mitsuri yelled, making you jump up from your sleeping place.
It had been about a week since you met all the (terrifying) Hashira. Within that time you had gone on a quick mission alone. It was easy, the demon only being mid-rank, and incredibly stupid and sloppy.
"Y/n!" Mitsuri yelled again, her smile- as always- as bright as a thousand suns. "Guess what!"
"Huh?" You still had to wipe the sleep from your eyes as she shook you back and forth.
"We're going on a mission together! With one of the other Hashira! I talked to the Master and he approved that I bring you along as my tsuguko!"
"Please tell me it's Ms. Kocho..."
"I have no idea! I hope it's Obani." She gushed. "He's so amazing on the battlefield!"
"Uh, right. Do we have any details other than that?"
"It's a town south of here! A demon has been lurking in a forest that surrounds the only road into the town, so anyone who's been entering or exiting the village in the night has gone missing! I hope they're okay...!"
"They're... probably not." You muttered. "But that doesn't mean we can't save other people-!"
Mitsuri shook the dreadful thought of losses from her head and frowned at you. "The demon is very strong, so you'll only be there for educational purposes! No fighting on your end, understand?"
You laughed at her lightly. Her brow was furrowed as she tried to be strict. "What's so funny? You could get hurt! I don't know what I'd do if you died, Y/n!"
"Nothing! I'll be safe and watch, okay? When do we leave?"
"Now!" She exited your room to let you get ready.
"Now? But- I'm not ready!" You cried. You hoisted yourself out of from under the covers and changed into your uniform and attached your sword to your hip.
"Ready?" You asked, poking your head out into the dining area.
Mitsuri swallowed a mouthful of food and nodded. "Let's go, my loyal tsuguko!" She picked you up and sat you on her very strong, surprisingly broad, shoulders, laughing the whole time.
You put your hands over her head and laughed too. "God, I don't know what if do without you..." you sighed contently and let her carry you down the mountain, with absolutely zero protest.
She threw you to the ground when you reached the base and dragged you by the wrist behind her. "Oh, I'm so excited to see who we're working with! Gah! I can't wait! You'll get to see someone in action! Everyone is so amazing!" She blabbered on about how great her peers are, but something in your gut said this wouldn't go fantastically.
-
Sure enough, when you got there, at the start of the road, stood a very familiar scarred man. "Shinazugawa!" Mitsuri called out, waving.
"Really? You? I thought only your tsuguko was coming! I didn't agree to this!" He grumbled. "This is so stupid-"
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I don't wanna be working with your either..." you mumbled.
The Master must've heard about Mitsuri's argument with him. Damn. This is gonna suck.
"Are you ready yet? Let's go, hurry up." Shinazugawa waved you two on and led you down the path.
