I walk swiftly back to Ea's bedroom, mulling over what the Queens said and ready to tell him everything.

Even though I have no doubt Delta has already told him, since he disappeared only a few moments ago. I have to finish all five challenges; I don't want to go to the Class of Royalty and Affluence to learn prissy manners and unneeded skills every heir learns. But then again, the Queens are pressed on time. In a few weeks, their children will be crowned. And married to a powerful prince from a different clan.

Good thing nobody has said anything about that for me.

I have to succeed. Because only then can the Grand Revolt truly strike. Only then can we all be happy. And know the Grand Revolt will win. Because we have Bayou on our team, and an Ancient. Bayou could kill a Queen and get away with it because... well... because he is Bayou. He is the best.

Nobody has ever killed a Queen before, until Freyja, I assume. Red flashes through my mind. I might be a Bwardipuginin, and sometimes I wish I was a full-blood, but I am still half. I might be stubborn, but not stubborn enough to ignore concrete facts.

I am Freyja's daughter, and even if I want to fancy myself into believing I don't want to be an heir to some kingdom and relied on by almost everyone...

I kind of want to. Yes, there are going to be hardships... but there would be even more if I just returned to my village and did nothing. My throne stolen from my clan and our world would come tumbling down.

Not only that, but I also really want to. I want to be relied on. To be important. To be wanted. Like, the world and all of my citizens are my soulmate. Not quite my equal, but as important as one. I want to go to balls and dance until my feet ache and the souls of my heels are worn. I want to fall in love.

I open the door to Ea's room and stop mid step into the doorway. My dream utterly forgotten.

He has music blaring. It is a well-known song by the Gang of Kaimana's Geniuses... "A Bwardipuginin Girl", I believe it is.

But that is not what stops me in my tracks, it is Ea's horrible singing. Usually, one would think a creature birthed from water would be sironic and melodically pleasing, but no. And Ea... well, he proves my point perfectly.

"It's a Bwardiuginin girl!" He screams... sorry, sings. "Very few you can love! It is an Encantados dream, to find a girl to be with thee!" I cover my ears as he screeches Aîskhos's part.

"Ooh!" He turns abruptly from where he was 'dancing', if you could call running around flailing your arms into the air 'dancing'.

He drops his arms and his face goes a bright green. "Oh, um..."

"Hello." I greet him, uncovering my ears. Ea pauses the music. "Are you okay? Do you need to take a nap? Maybe you need some tonics?" I suggest.

Ea rushes over, his first blush blending into an even brighter green. "Oh... uh, no. That is okay. I am fine. Nothing wrong here."

I raise an eyebrow and nod meekly. "Sure. whatever you say. I am going to leave now. Have fun... doing whatever you were doing." I turn around, hoping to leave without my eardrums exploding.

"Stop!" He yells after me before I can even clear the door. He seems out of breath.

"What?"

"Do you know the band well?" I nod. "Who is your favorite?"

"Leysa..." I let the word trail and convey everything. Gods, I just want to leave.

"I really like Aîskhos." He replies, running his fin through his blue hair.
