"I look at the person who vowed to stay with me till death do us part. I stare at the man that stole my heart."
I write slowly.
"No," I mumble, smudging the ink with my finger. It just doesn't sound good. I may be an idiot, but I am not that insane.
"Hmm," Delta yawns. "I think I found a way to phrase it better." He shoves a piece of paper towards me awkwardly.
It reads: "I never thought he would be mine. I never thought this would be us. His soul is mine and my soul is his, our hearts are broken, but it's shards are melded together."
I nod, "Helpful, but it doesn't have the correct..."
"Connotation?" Delta suggests helpfully, I nod again.
"It really doesn't," I drop my pen and lean back in my chair, resting my ankles upon our conjoined desk. "What about," I close my eyes, thinking. "I look at the man who stole my heart, the one I have vowed to stay with till death do us part," I pause, paraphrasing. "I never thought he would be mine. Not really. I never thought this perfect couple we are embodying could be us. My soul is his, and his soul is mine. Our hearts may be broken a thousand times over, but it's shards are melded together to form something that appears to be awesome. Joyous. Yet deep down, we both know are demons are wrestling for attention, and it will only be so long until we have to release them from their leash."
"-I can only hope," Delta continues, the scratch on paper our only other companion. "that they don't consume us before we have the chance to live out this peaceful relationship fully."
I snap my fingers. "That is perfect." I sit up and prop my elbows on the desk as he scribbles down a few more lines on the parchment.
I can practically see the lightbulb go off in Delta's mind as his whole face perks up from his writing. Oh no.
"Quick question," Double no. "How can you survive a slit neck?" I look at him oddly.
"How am I supposed to know?" I ask, aghast.
"Because," His face turns a stark green. "You know a bunch of weird facts."
I cross my arms over my chest. "Like what?"
"Like..." He pauses. Thinking. His head cocked to the side and his scar illuminated from the moons light. "How hugging a teddy bear can leave off the same amount of endorphins as sexual intercourse..."
I narrow my eyes at him. "That is not about slitting somebodies throat!" He puts his hands up in the air.
"Okay, Okay, grouchy." Delta mumbles but I catch the phrase and slap him, hard, on the shoulder.
He rubs it, his face slacken. "That was rude!"
I roll my eyes, and mock him.
His own eyes slit into mine. "Are you hungry?" He asks abruptly. "I heard the new kitchen lady we saw yesterday made a new type of biscuit that is the best."
I wrinkle my nose. "I don't want Branwen's biscuits-"
"That was the name!"
"-but..." I tap my jaw absentmindedly. "Can I have a bowl of flamingo tongues?" The number one pastry our old cook always made!
"Roasted?"
"Yes!" I almost yelled."I knew you were grouchy because you were hungry." He steps away before I can hit him again.

"I stare up at the man who has now killed me, the one whom I never thought would let his demons capture him entirely first. I thought I would be the one to kill, to maim, to harm before he let his demons rush out and explode. But the blood coming-"
"Oozing,?" Delta suggests. I nod.
"But the blood oozing out of my throat says otherwise."
Delts nods. "And the bloodied blade staining the floor with a pattern of red tells an entire different story."
I smile. " 'That was not the prick I was expecting last night. Now, do it right.' I hoaxingly murmur as I choke on my own blood. 'Really?' he smiles mischievously, raises the knife and obliges the one thing I wanted. A nice, quick-" I yawn and Delta looks at me oddly. I set the three leftover flamingo tongues to the side. "That is it for today. We can resume tomorrow."
I flop onto my bed.
