Chapter 8
"Get out of the carriage NOW! “The masked man ordered not so nicely.
He grabbed Madeline and roughly by the arm and yanked her out of the carriage, she almost lost her balance and nearly landed on her face but at the last moment the highwayman grabbed her before her face met with the dirty road. The highwayman did the same with Miss. Steele but he didn’t do it as roughly as he had with Madeline, figuring he had grabbed Madeline much too roughly.
When Madeline got out of her shock, she looked up and noticed that there were three other highwaymen a few feet ahead of her on big black stallions and they were all cradling big guns.
‘Where in the world was Mr. Noelle?’ Madeline thought to herself.
"What have you done to my driver!” said Madeline distraught. She hoped that they hadn’t hurt Mr. Noelle; he was a sweet old man, Madeline had told him to that he could stop working because of his age but he had insisted that he wanted to continue working.
“It’s very kind of you to think of me but I want to keep working,” Mr. Noelle had said.
“Mr. Noelle you wouldn’t have to worry about food and money I will establish something so you would be nicely accommodated,” Madeline said urging on.
“I appreciate greatly your kind and generous offer, Lady Madeline, most greatly. I have worked here since I was a little boy, I met your grandfather, I have worked for your father since he was a boy and now I am working for you. I have been with three generations of Woods and I want to continue to do so,” Mr. Noelle had said pouring his heart out.
