Chapter 19

Madeline and Trent returned to the house after the long passionate time they had passed in the dark woods. Madeline had actually been left weak and wanting. The fact that Trent had not taken her made her mad yet it made her love him even more for waiting and respecting her.

“I will come every so often to spend time with you, love,” Trent said to her when they were close to her house but not too close to be seen by someone.

“That would be splendid − but it will always be chaperoned visits wont they,” Madeline said sadly. They wouldn’t be allowed to touch much less kiss if they were chaperoned.

“Yes, but maybe not always, love. Only when we are in public is when we will have a chaperone with us, sometimes someone will not accompany us and I will be able to ravish you with kisses, for that it will be necessary it  just be the two of us. We can go on carriage rides and picnics and do whatever you want,” Trent said holding her hands in his.

“Very well come back soon… I’ll miss you the entire time you’re gone.”

For the next two weeks they spend as much time as they could together. They went on long picnics and long carriage rides, both of them wanted the time they had together to last forever but knew that it couldn’t. All they could bare to think about was the time they did have.

“Oh Cassandra you have no idea how blissfully happy I am and how great Trent is,” Madeline said dreamy after Trent left, they had had a stroll through the gardens and had talked on and on, getting to know each other even more than they already did..

“I can imagine,” said Cassandra because it was true, she could only imagine. She was looking at her star gazed cousin with a warm smile on her face. At least she is happy, she thought to herself.

What Madeline had was what she yearned to have. She wanted love not someone like Richard that couldn’t even stand to be in the same room as her when he was around eight years ago. Cassandra couldn’t help but feel lonely and unloved at times. She greatly yearned for a love of her life, for a man that would love her and cherish her, someone she could love back just as much. Cassandra wanted kids, a big loving family; she knew that even if Richard had stayed that nothing would have happened the way she wanted it anyway. She probably would have been more miserable married to him.

“I’m so very happy for you Madeline,” Cassandra said with so much sincerity and emotion that it almost broke Madeline’s heart.
