 Chapter 12

“Yes, I found her wandering about in the halls, it seems she was lost so I decided to be the gentleman that I am and help her find her way,” Robert said giving Madeline an amused smile.

Madeline let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding and smiled back at him, thanking him. She even chuckled when Trent laughed at what Robert had said since he knew his brother like the back of his hand he knew that Robert was far from being a gentleman.

“I send for a maid to get you, I guess you had left by then,” Trent said.

“I’m sorry for the inconvenience, My Lord,” Madeline told Trent.

“Please call me Trent, now let’s sit down at the table and eat,” Madeline found it weird how much Robert and Trent just by saying that they wished to be called by their names and no titles or by their last names.

“Very well…Trent,” Madeline said almost to see how it would sound coming from her lips.

Trent had shivered when Madeline had said his name, his name had never sounded so perfect then it did when being said by Madeline. It also gave him an immense and inexplicable pleasure.

Supper was wonderful, everything was delicious. Madeline thought that since her family was rich that she had been expose to the finest things in life, but it seemed like the Clayton’s were far more wealthy then her family was. There was laughter and much talking during the time they ate, it was all lively and entertaining. Robert was being well Robert; he kept teasing Madeline and even teased Miss. Steele at times.
