The Day When You and Bucky come home
"WE'RE GOING HOME" I yell, running outside. "DOLL YOU FORGOT YOUR PANTS," Bucky says, running after me with a towel and then wrapping it around me, and I laugh "right yeah, sorry", I chuckle, and he wraps his arms around my chest, kissing me on my cheek.
He grabs my hand, leading me back inside our area, and smiles, and T'Challa walks in with a huge smile "My friends", he greets us ",, god eight months went by that fast?" I ask, and he nods. "I told you to trust the process" T'Challa smiles, and I nod. "I never doubted it for a second, my friend", I laugh.
Bucky walks into our room, and T'Challa grins. "I see he cares a lot about you" he nods to indicate that he was talking about Bucky. "I hope he does because I care a lot about him" I smile. "I will never be able to understand the chemistry you two have, but for what it's worth, don't lose that chemistry because it's one of a kind," T'Challa says "like you and your wife?" I smile, and he nods.
"the love of my life like he is yours", T'Challa nudges me. I look down, remembering I'm in a towel "well, I would love to continue this conversation, but to my knowledge, I have nothing under this towel", I say, and T'Challa chuckles "yes, well, I will catch you before your departure," he says, and I nod.
I open the door and see Bucky staring at pictures of him and me in the '40s
flashback
"god James, you are always so stubborn when you want to be", I chuckle, walking in between the small, scrawny Steve Rogers and the tall muscly James Barnes, "oh come on, you used to like me being stubborn, m'lady" he chuckles "god you two are so disgusting, make up your mind," Steve says "come on Emma knows that we are all friends in this together," James says teasing me, and I roll my eyes.
"I need to go do something, so I'll be right back," Steve says, and I nod "god, you're always so touchy when he is near," I say, taking a step away from James "oh, come on why are you so sensitive" he jokes around he always smiled around Steve and me well mainly Steve.
James wasn't fond of me when Steve wasn't around. "I like Steve, James, Steve is a nice guy, and he isn't" "pushy, arrogant, stuck up I know look there's a photo booth," he says, pointing to a box that had a camera in it "look the charade is up, Steve is gone," I say rolling my eyes.
I only ever hung out with James when it was James, Steve and me. In fact, I liked Steve an awful lot, but he had eyes for Peggy and only Peggy. James and I were friends purely because we had a mutual friend, not because we cared about each other but for our other friend, Steve.
"come on, have fun for once before we leave," he says, and the camera clicks "smile," he says "say something funny," I say, not budging "you are good looking" he smirks, and the camera clicks, and I hit him on cue, "I said funny," I say making him laugh.
"have fun with me for once, emma" god, I hated being a spy, well I wasn't a spy but being called emma was so stupid. "fine", I laugh. The camera clicks, we had two more photos before we both ran out of nickels and pennies, so I grab his cheek and kiss it "how about that" he smirks, and the camera clicks once again.
For the last photo, he kissed my cheek, and I couldn't do anything but blush. The forties are such a romantic time.
end of flashback
"you remember these," he says, showing me the pictures "of course", I smile. "Emma and James prewar", I chuckle, and he nods. "Emma", he scoffs ", you know when you went missing I was worried, I had heard Emma went missing, and Me and Steve looked everywhere, but I died and then hydra" he pauses "but then we were reunited, but you told me who you were," he says.
"did your opinion on me change after that," I ask him, and he shakes his head. "Emma or not, you were still the same person" he smiles gently, and my towel drops, and he laughs as I pick it up and wrap it around me "ok, that's just great. I'm going to shower," I say, and Bucky winks at me.
After my shower, I noticed Bucky had packed our bags for us. Bucky was always a gentleman. Whether he liked me or not, he always had time to open a door for me or buy me flowers. His gentleman thing today was packing our bags and making breakfast.
"Buck, I said I could do all this", I whine, and he shakes his head, "and I said no" he shrugs. I walk over to him and hug him "I love you so much old man," I say and he laughs lightly "you want to play it like that," he says "yes I do fossil," I say as he turns around tickling me "come on old lady fight back," he says and I giggle because he's still tickling me.
"what was that," he says waiting for an answer but all I could do was laugh "ok ok," I say and he stops "I'm sorry I love you..." I pause backing away "prehistoric dinosaur" and he turns off the stove chasing after me and I run away.
Running outside on the grass past Shuri gardening, T'Challa's meeting room where he was talking business "IM NOT SORRY I DONT REGRET IT" I yell still running "YOU CAN'T OUTRUN ME BARNES" I keep yelling knowing he was behind me "COME HERE Y/N" "NEVER" I continue running until we run in a circle back to our room.
I run into the room and lock the door "y/n" he says out of breath on the other side of the door, I lean against the door huffing and puffing "I just want a kiss" he says breathing heavily "liar you want to tickle me and I won't let you Barnes" I say unlocking the door opening it by a little bit to see him sitting on the floor.
He looks up at me and opens his arms out and I walk over to him and sit in front of him and he pulls me close hugging me and then kissing my forehead "see" he smiles and then TICKLE ATTACK "HEY" I squeal and he tickles me "mwahaha" he chuckles.
Hours passed and we were almost ready to leave but I couldn't leave without hugging my friends so I went to Shuri and gave her a huge hug, I went to T'Challa and hugged him for a long amount of time and Okoye god Okoye was the biggest help so I had a hug and kiss on the cheek for her.
I carry our bags onto the quinjet and look around "I'm coming here often" I say pointing to everyone "We welcome you both with open arms" T'Challa says "we are gonna get home tonight right?" I say and Buck nods.
We take off and I start dancing "god I feel free," I say sitting next to Bucky helping him fly "feels good doesn't it" he smiles and I nod "it does" I agree with him.
"James," I say "Oh no did I forget something," he says slightly worried "no-no" I laugh "I want to thank you for everything the good, the bad, the happy and the sad," I say "we don't do mushy stuff often but when we do it's relieving," I say and he nods.
Many more hours later, I feel two arms grab me "shes knackered so I'll just take her to bed" I hear Bucky and I groan rubbing my head up against him "yeah no she's been up since three this morning" I open my eyes slowly and smile to Bucky "are we here," I say looking around and he chuckles nodding.
"We are dating by the way," I say to everyone since they were looking at me and Bucky puts me down "oh so we were telling them," he says, "I think we made it obvious when we left together anyways hun" I smiled kissing him on the cheek.
"GUYS" I yell and they all laugh coming up and hugging me "oh god I missed you all" I say being in the centre of the group hug "oh bring it in Barnes," Tony says to Bucky who shakes his head, PDA wasn't his thing but it was ok until Natasha grabs his arms pulling him into the hug.
Naturally, I should be mad or upset at that gesture but Steve says she's changed she didn't realise we were a thing back then but now she understands. We walk into the lounge and "WELCOME HOME" More people jumped out and I run behind James and then peek out "oh fuck" I laugh.
"You guys threw me a party," I say in awe "Well Barnes has been keeping us up to speed with everything from the moment he dramatically came back to the moment he dramatically left to go back to you," Clint says and I laugh.
Everyone was there from the fight with Thanos and my dreams. The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and everyone else who had a shtick that I knew.
Steve walks up to behind Bucky standing next to me "so you two sorted it out" Steve asks and I nod "little disgusting isn't it" I say and Bucky rolls his eyes "she's so in love with me" he says making Steve laugh.
It didn't matter where I went it would always be the three of us, Bucky, Steve and Me the fossils of the century. If it weren't for Emma I don't think I'd still be here despite everything I've been through, I'm thankful because I wouldn't have ended up with the people I live with who are my family. I love everyone that I surround myself with so if anyone asks no I don't regret anything I've done in life whether that was killing a hundred nazi's or killing a bunch of random aliens from another planet.
If I was being honest, the 21st century, being here with my heap of friends and my lover was home and I wouldn't change it for the world.
"grotesque was the word you would use actually," Bucky says correcting me getting the final laugh.
