" And this is your home " Nikki says carrying the baby carrier. I smile to myself.
I spent only two days in the hospital just so they could monitor me and the baby. But man was it good to be home. For the past 3 days Nikki hasn't stopped talking to the baby as if he understands what he's saying.
" Aw I missed you Sofa " I say jumping on the soft cushions. I look around for Nikki but he's no where to be found. Hmm.
I creep up the stairs his voice becoming louder as I inch nearer.
" This is your cradle...oh and these are all your cuddly toys our friends and family got you "
" hey mister rock and roll " I laugh at Nikki's baby talk.
" Sorry I just can't help it, I forgot how easy new borns are it's once they reach 2 is where you have to be careful " he laughs to himself.
" Speaking of two year olds when is Brandi dropping off Gunner ? " I question.
I was so excited for Gunner to meet his new brother.
" In about an hour " he smiles cradling the baby.

Nikki hasn't taken Decker out of his arms all day, I smile as I watch them asleep together on the couch. I'm broken out of my thoughts by a knock on the door.
" Hi Bran - " i stop myself realising that's not Brandi.
" Sophie !! " Gunner yells hugging my leg.
" Hello my boy i've missed you " I pet his head still staring at who's at my door.
" Where's Brandi ? " I ask.
" She had a meeting so she asked me to bring him over, hope you don't mind " he smiles awkwardly.
" Uh no no that's no a problem, so how are you Jon ?" I ask closing the door and following Gunner into the kitchen.
" I've been okay yeah, we finished our new album this year which is great " He shifts, the awkwardness thickening the air.
" Baby !! Baby!! Baby !! " Gunner yells standing in the door way where Nikki and Decker are asleep.
" Ssssh , yes that is a baby , that's your brother " I smile at Gunner who's wide eyed.
" Looks like you got everything you wanted " Jon says from behind me. I turn around to face him.
" You make it sound like it's a bad thing ? " I furrow my eyebrows.
" No it's not but my issue is I could've given you that" He says dryly.
" Jon any man is capable of getting a woman pregnant but it takes a real man to create a family, and that's what I have here " I say and he scoffs.
" Why are you still so bitter over what happened? Did you honestly see us going that distance ? " I say getting more annoyed by the second.
" Yes! " he says raising his voice then realising my new born is asleep.
" I did Sophia this is why i'm still so angry over everything, I loved you and all I was to you was a pit stop on the road back to Nikki " I sigh listening to him.
" Do you know how difficult it is to watch you and him play happy families while i'm at home raising his son too " I stop him there.
" No one asked you to be apart of Gunners life you made that decision yourself, Gunner has two very loving parents and that's all he needs he doesn't need you and he doesn't need me. If you really love Brandi like you say you do you would understand she doesn't expect you to help her with Gunner, she can do it herself and she has Nikki " I catch my breath.
" So maybe reevaluate your life and stop shitting on other peoples because as far as i'm concerned we are the ones with our shit together not you " I point at him.
I can't believe him to walk into my home and question my family. Dickhead.
He just stands there saying nothing. As I thought.
" Brandi will be collecting Gunner later, I have to go" he says turning around showing himself out the door.
I stand there trying to collect my thoughts, what even was that.....
" You sure told him " I hear Nikki's voice behind me. I turn around to look at him he's stood with Decker still in his arms and Gunner by his side.
" You heard all that ? " I ask.
" Of course i'm surprised this little guy didn't wake up " he laughs....hmm he doesn't seem mad?
" You're not....upset ? " I question
" Why would I be upset ? I didn't even feel the need to intervene you handled it all " I nod in return feeling guilty he had to hear that.
" But if I didn't have Decker in my arms I would've punched his pretty face " There he is.

Today was a good day despite Jon's weird outburst but I didn't let it ruin this special moment.
" Okay you guys better be quick the flash goes off very quickly....ready...." I say running back to my spot.

" I think I blinked " I scowl Nikki who's laughing.
I made us all take a family photo. I realised we probably don't take enough which made me sad so i'm creating a photo album to collect all our memories.
" Okay everyone it's time for Decker's bedtime " I say taking him from Nikki's arms.
" Gunner said Goodnight to your brother " Nikki says.
" Night Night " He says softly probably tired himself.
With that I bring him upstairs into his room. His first night home. I can almost feel my heart strings being pulled. I watch our precious creation so peaceful in the cradle. Who would have thought this would be my life.
After putting Decker down I decided to get ready for bed myself. I turn off our bedroom light before decided to head back downstairs, as I reach the top of the stairs I hear Nikki's voice.
" Yeah but I told you I don't want her to find out just yet, things are good I don't want to spoil it "
Just like that the air from my lungs was taken. My legs weak my ear ringing.
