(Prologue) Lyric took his hand in hers and held back the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes, she looked down at the piece of paper that she held in her trembling hand as he gently kissed her knuckles, easing her nerves. "I never expected anything to come out of this, especially not you." She began, "If I had known what would happen..the friendship, the hope, the fear, the love, the joy, the heartbreak, oh the heartbreak...would I have done it?" She inquired and couldn't help but beam when she looked up at him, her eyes filled to the brim with love. "Yes, i would have. I would do it again, a million times over, because even after everything...you're worth it."

Chapter 1 - 3:27 pm. "Are you excited?" Questioned Maeve from behind the counter, watching Lyric pour herself a paper to-go cup full of coffee from the self serve coffee machine. "To coach musty, horny, teenage boys through volleyball? Ah yes, I am so excited, Maeve, living the dream infact." Lyric stated sarcastically, securing the lid onto the cup before sipping it, which horribly burnt the roof of her mouth considering it had just come out of the pot. She turned to look at Maeve who rolled her eyes at her sarcasm, propping her elbows up onto the counter and leaning onto it to ease her back. "Smartass, does it at-least pay well?" Maeve inquired, unconsciously tracing the lines in the marble counter top with her pointer finger although her eyes stayed on Lyric, who shook her head. "No, not really, it hardly pays." She murmured and momentarily blew into the opening of the coffee cup, taking a cautious sip in-between sentences. "But it's something to keep me busy and still bring in a little bit of cash while I continue getting my company up and running, and its the same school my daughter goes to, so its.." Lyric took a brief pause to find the appropriate word, "Convenient." She settled on. "Like your boyfriend?" Maeve uttered under her breath without a second thought. When Lyrics harsh, but shocked, gaze snapped back to meet hers Maeve's eyes widened and averted from her direction, stifling a smirk by pressing her lips into a hard line. Lyric fought her hardest to hold back a chuckle, approaching the register. "He is not convenient..I like him." She chuckled out defensively as she placed her to-go cup down on the counter, removing her wallet from her bag. "You've said so yourself that he is convenient and that's why you have kept him around, which I have no idea why you do. If you changed your relationship status on myspace you would have men lining up on your porch within minutes, hell, even women, very likely including me." Maeve stated casually while she rang Lyrics coffee up. Lyric couldn't help but laugh at her little comment. "That was a long time ago, I genuinely do like him! He's kinda sweet now, and he's attempting to be sincere of my feelings and what I want, it's all i need." Lyric insisted and picked up her coffee to take another sip carefully, "And shut up you little homo." She joked and removed 3 dollar bills from her wallet. "He is inconsiderate, obnoxious, homophobic and not to mention unfaithful, please remind me, how many times has he cheated on you in the time of your one year relationship?" Maeve divulged and wondered sarcastically because she already knew the answer from all of the times Lyric had showed up at her doorstep crying, and she ripped the bills from Lyrics hand before she could even offer them to her. "Okay, yes he does have his moments, and he has hurt me, but the whole cheating thing was a while ago and he's really trying to improve himself." Lyric defended him, "How did we even get to this topic, mind your business Mae and hurry up with the change. If I'm late on my first day I blame you." She grumbled impatiently. "I am your best friend, you ass, it very much is my business and i know that man is a dick to you, i do not care if he has his moments he should not fucking do it, period!" Maeve snapped back, dropping 3 quarters and 6 penny's in the palm of her hand. Lyric waved her off with her other hand and dropped the change into her wallet loosely. "Fine, whatever, I will see you tomorrow for my last shift if I choose to be petty and not speak to you tonight." She divulged and leaned over the counter, placing a quick kiss on her cheek. Maeve returned it briefly before Lyric pulled away. "It is going to be awful working evenings without you." Maeve whined, her face expression was pure pout. Lyric chuckled and grabbed her coffee off of the counter, turning to head to the door. "You'll be okay Mae, I'll see you then." Lyric said before hurrying off to it, pushing her way through the door and almost bumping into a beautiful light skinned man who was coming up to it at the same time, so she gave it a harsh shove to make sure it stayed open for him. "Sorry, handsome!" She called before she continued to run off to her car.
