Katherine's POV
"But nick-"
"No Katherine, you were wrong, I don't know how you did it but you convinced me that I needed a son when in reality wasn't ready for it. I have seen how much Hayley loves him and the last thing I would want would be to separate a child from his mother"
Furious, I ended the call without saying anything
"ma'am"Andrew said softly
I turned towards him and gestured him to continue
"You should stop"
I arched my eyebrows at him
"What do you mean Andrew" I said in a cold voice
"You did everything you could to separate them but even now they are together, and happy. You lost, you just have to accept it"
You lost were the only words echoing in my head. I could never lose
"And when you love someone, you shouldn't care about losing, because what really matters is that you loved them, truthfully and that you will always love them, no matter when they realize it. That is true love"
Seeing Andrew talk so much sense made me realize how right he was.
In the end I forgot who I was fighting for, my revenge from Hayley or my love for Christian? It all became a blur and the only thing I could see was winning. I stooped so low that I didn't realize the things I did and maybe it is too late.
"Can you do me one last favor?" I asked him

Hayley's POV
A few days had passed since nick's visit and the day after that he had been visiting Elijah and Christian often, it almost felt like I had gained a brother and Elijah, a friend. Elijah seemed genuinely happy around him.
As I glanced at Elijah playing with nick I heard a knock.
"I'll see" I told nick who nodded and I proceeded to open the door
I opened it to reveal the most unexpected person
"Hi Hayley"
"Katherine"
She looked worn out. This sight of her, it wasn't her. She looked like she hadn't slept in weeks and something told me it was because of me.
"Can I come in?"
"Uh sure"
She asked so hopefully, I felt guilty for turning her down so I said yes
I closed the door behind her and we walked to the lounge room. Nick upon seeing Katherine stood up and passed me a confused look which I returned looking clueless as ever
Elijah got himself busy so I finally spoke
"So?"
"Hayley I am so sorry" she said almost a whisper
"When I first saw you, I thought you were an obstacle in my way, back then removing you from my way was the only priority but as days passed I realized how much I got involved with winning that my entire reason faded and the only thing I cared about was winning, from you. I wanted to take everything away from you, I blamed you for all the sleepless nights and restless days I had been through while in reality, it was all me" her voice cracked at the last phrase and I felt bad for her.
"I just wanted to see you for one last time and hope that one day you would forgive me for what I did, even when I would not."
"Where are you going?" nick took a step beside me and spoke
"Denmark" she said smiling. Her eyes were sparkling, she was really crying
"But why Denmark" was the first question that came to my mind
"Ever since I fell in love with Christian, I had always dreamed on getting my happy ever after with him. In my version of the dream, we had moved to Denmark. The dream faded away but the place didn't. I guess that is my cue, to start a new life, in Denmark" she concluded
"Did you meet Christian?" nick asked and I looked at her.
"I can't" she said as a silent tear fell on her check.
She looked at the floor unable to meet my eyes
"Mommy who is this?" all of us turned to Elijah who looked worried and had his eyes fixated on Katherine
Before I could think of what to say, Katherine sat on her knees in front of Elijah and spoke
"Hi"
"Hi, I'm Elijah" he said as he smiled
"I'm Katherine, a friend of your mom" she said returning the smile.
He nodded and got busy with his toys once again.
Katherine stood up but didn't meet any of our eyes. She turned around and took a step towards the door
"Goodbye Hayley"
I know what I was about to do was probably foolish and unexpected, but my heart wouldn't be at peace if I didn't do it
"Katherine wait" I spoke hurriedly
She topped in her tracks but never turned around
"Why don't you meet Christian before you leave? One last time"
