"Hello weaklings." Jagged said in a harsh tone. "Come with me if you want to live."
We noticed that Thorn's body started to shake. It was like all the bravery we saw yesterday didn't even exist. He followed Jagged without thinking twice.
"If the rest of you don't follow now, you will all die!" Jagged rasped.
"I'd rather die!" Gold yelled. "No way will I ever let you do this to our team!"
"Then attack warriors, attack!" Jagged yelled.
Many cats surrounded us, claws unsheathed, teeth sharp as knives. They pounced all over us in an instant. I tried to bite one of the cats in the neck, but it got me on the belly before the attack hit. The cat was about to scratch me in the belly, killing me instantly, but then I felt a rush.
The cat was short, but had the longest claws I had ever seen. It had the darkest blue eyes I had ever seen with an orange coat and spots all over its body. The cat slammed into the attacker, blood coming out the wound. It then tried to escape, but the orange one got it first. Eventually the enemy ran away to its own territory back in the dump.
I then noticed that most of the other cats in the patrol had run back as well. Only Jagged, two warriors, and the mystery cat remained.
"I'm not done yet!" Jagged yowled. "If you all don't follow me now, your Russian Blue friend will get clawed to a pulp."
I couldn't believe it. He had Jeanette. Tom and Cream both were too shocked to speak.
"Maxine?" Beth said.
I was about to follow Jagged at that moment, but then a cat from earlier returned. He had a worried look on his face, like he had seen a ghost.
"The prisoner escaped!" The cat shouted. "We are also missing one of our best slaves, Ra33."
"You just got lucky." Jagged said. "Mark my words, you all will meet me again."
The cat and Jagged walked away, but the short cat remained. If it wasn't part of the patrol, where was it from?
"Why is this bonehead still here" Beth questioned. "We don't need another member of Gold Whisker!"
I was glad Beth was back to her old self. Without her sharp tone with her yellow stare she wasn't the same. She didn't have to be so mushy at all of us all the time.
"Sorry about her tone." Cream said. "She can be nasty at times."
The cat then ran off in the other direction. As the cat ran off, Gold gave it a hard stare. There was something about that cat Gold didn't like. I would find out later that he had a reason.
(Note: A warning ahead of time for those expecting a big reveal for this mysterious cat; it is not coming. When I was writing this story back in fifth grade, I planned to make a sequel in which a twist of this character being a part of Gold's past was going to be revealed. However, I never came about making it, so instead of an epic reveal, I accidentally created one heck of a plot hole. I'll explain more of what this plan for this cat's character actually was at the right moment, just not now to avoid spoiling the story.
Also, be on the lookout for that Jeanette subplot continuing to develop in the future. More crazy logic is coming your way with that!)
