"How heartless!" Cream yowled. "My best friend's sister is going to be killed by that fiend, Jagged!"
"Should we save the madame?" Gold asked. "We lost so much time already."
I could see why Gold was so concerned. He wanted to save Jeanette, but so much time was lost from my meltdown, Jagged's attack, and saving Gwen. Me, Cream, Gwen, Thorn, and Gold voted to go to the dump, but Tom and Beth thought that after the snow melted would be the best time to save her.
"It's decided." Gold said. "We will go back now and save Jeanette. Now I know Tom and Beth said nay, but Jeanette is important to Maxine and what if we were too late? Maxine would be heartbroken."
If you want to know what happened the next few days all I can say is that my paws were ice cold. We were able to catch food and we had a fresh supply of water. Beth kept complaining of how we could've stayed in that den for at least two more days. She felt it wouldn't have effected Jeanette. To shut her up, Gwen bit her tail.
We were pretty close to the dump, when Beth looked worried. The next thing I knew two familiar shapes walked by. One of them was a Russian Blue cat and the other, a black cat! They were Jeanette and Jagged!
(Note: Based on the conclusion of this chapter and without reading the next one, I think I have a more generalized idea about what Jeanette's kidnapping plot really was. Sure, it is still flawed due to the badly established timeline, but it makes at least a lot more sense than what the writing is making it out to be.
Here is what I think happened: Jeanette was kidnapped after somehow Jagged found out about Gold's world-saving role around late afternoon. She was dragged to the dump as a prisoner, where mostly likely Gwen found her. Gwen took pity on the cat and attempted to escape with her. They got pretty far from the dump, but at some point some of Jagged's followers caught up to them. Gwen was badly injured from Jagged's followers, which is why she was found half dead in the snow from an inability to hunt or to find shelter. Meanwhile, Jagged took Jeanette back to the dump, but not before telling Gwen directly his intentions on killing her, so if Gwen was found by her father or by Gold's group, they would be baited back to the dump. The plan ended up working in Jagged's favor and instead of just luring maybe Thorn back, he managed to both get his brother and the whole of Gold Whisker. Jeanette was escorted outside with him as a form of bragging for the evil cat, sealing his victory with a vicious cherry on top. That is the most sense I can make about the kidnapping plot as a whole, without the future five chapters to look at as further evidence. If there is any more information revealed then, I'll update my timeline, but for now, this is what I think ten year old me was trying to piece together.)
