The light filters through my thin curtains, the sunlight shining on my face. I hate that, just when I managed to get to sleep. I pull off the covers and stand up, wiping sleep from my eyes. I run my hands through my long black hair, trying to pull out the knots. I give up and walk over to my dressing table. I look in the large mirror, my hair is sticking up in clumps ( I really need to get it cut) and my blue eyes are hazy. I hate mornings, why can't they just disappear? I pull on a dressing gown and slide down the banister to the hallway. My best friend, Draco Malfoy, is walking up the stairs. He looks frightened.

''Levine... Your...umm.. father is downstairs and he wants to speak to you'' he says. Naturally, he's afraid, my father is the Dark Lord, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, You-Know-Who, Lord Voldemort. I smile.

''Thanks Drakie'' I say, ruffling his hair. He hates it when I do that. He walks past me, mumbling insanities. I

walk into the kitchen, my father pacing the large floor. He smiles at me when I enter. It's weird, he's usually so evil but with me, he's... well... I would say, like a real father. I smile at him and plop down on a chair.

''Draco says you want to speak to me, what's up?'' I say, grabbing a bit of toast from a plate. He scowls.

''Levine, please stop slouching and sit up straight, you silly girl, you're getting crumbs everywhere'' he says, clasping his hands together. Draco's right to be scared. Even his look's scream ''DEATH'' and ''EVIL'' at me.

''Anyway, Draco is right, I wanted to ask you a favour'' he says, smling at me. I bite my toast, trying not to meet his red eyes.

''When you go to Hogwarts this year, I want you to ''get close to'' Harry Potter'' he says, his voice cold and high again. I spray my toast everywhere.

''You're joking, right? That big-headed scar-faced freak?'' I say, wiping crumbs from my mouth. I hate Potter, and his little friends, goody goody Miss Hermione Mudblood and Ron Weasel King Bloodtraitor.

''No Levine, I'm not joking, now please, stop eating like a 5 year old and sit up straight'' he commands.

''Ok Father, I'll do it'' I say, standing up. He smiles again, warmly this time.

''Good girl, now go upstairs and get changed, you need to get your stuff for this year'' he says, dismissing me. I walk upstairs and Nagini, my fathers snake, slithers down the stairs. Being a Parseltongue (able to speak to snakes) I find it easy to relate to her. She lifts her long head up and looks at me.

''Good Morning Mistress'' she hisses, bowing her head. I snort.

''Seriously, for the 100th time, it's Levine, not Mistress'' I hiss back. She gives a weird chuckle.

''Sorry, it's just with the Dark Lord, I find it difficult around his daughter'' she hisses.

''Ok, whatever'' I say, stepping up the stairs as she slithers down. It's weird that I'm the only one who can act casual around him, yet even sometimes, I need to watch myself.  I walk into my bedroom, the only place in this god-forsaken manor I can feel at home. We have to live with the Malfoys, not that I don't like them, but it just doesn't feel right. I had to live with them for 13 years before my father came back after Mr Scar-Head ''defeated'' him, so technically they're like my family. My father only rose again 6 months ago and I missed him. Not much changed, I guess, but I was only 1 when he was...defeated. I remembered glimpses of him, but not much. I guess he remembered me because he was really, really happy when he saw me. Wow, I guess not seeing your own daughter for 13 years can be tough, espiecially as I was only 1 at the time and now I'm 15... and I don't even know my own mother... This women who is my sort- of- mother, Narcissa's sister, Bellatrix or whatever. I've seen pictures of her but she was carted off to Askaban when I was 2.  I throw on a pair of shorts and a top before slipping on my robe and pocketing my wand and money. I walk downstairs and find Draco standing there, waiting for me.

''Hey Drakie'' I say, smiling at him. He scowls. We've become like brother and sister over the years, his mother and father  treating me like their own child.

''Come on then, let's go'' I say, grabbing his arm. We Disapparate into Diagon Alley. I got the Trace removed from me when I was 6 so I can do magic whenever I want... Apparently it was because of my real mother or something.  He sighs.

''It's not fair you can do magic outside of school and I can't'' he huffs. I laugh.

''It doesn't matter anyway, just 2 more years and you're free too'' I say, smiling. We walk through the Alley, walking into shops to get school books and potion ingredients. I'm a dab hand at Potions, best in my class, next to Miss Perfect Granger. We finish our shopping and go to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor and order two peanut butter and chocolate ice creams, sitting out in the sun eating them, watching the people walk by.

''Oh damn, it's the Golden Trio'' Draco scowls, pointing at Mr Scar Head, Mudblood and Weasel King. I pretend to barf.

''I can't believe I have to be-friend them'' I say, sniffing. Draco raises an eyebrow.

''Wow, really?'' he says, gulping. I nod.

''Poor you'' he whispers and finishes his ice cream. I smile as we pay for our ice creams and leave Diagon Alley and Apparate back home.

*Draco's POV*

I can't help feeling sorry for Levine, I really can't. It's just wrong, two sworn mortal enemies becoming ''friends'' I can't help feeling sorry for myself too, I'll be left alone with that crazy chick Pansy Parkinson. I pretend she's my friend and all, but really she annoys me, and anyway, Levine's my cousin, I love her. Oh well, I can live with that. I finish packing my case for Hogwarts and put it near my door. We leave in 3 days, better early I guess. I hope Levine doesn't get to close to them, but she probably won't. Even the sight of Potter disgusts her. She keeps out of his way at school so she doesn't give him any ideas, but secretly giving me taunts about him.

''Draco'' my mother says, peaking round my doorway.

''Yes, mother?'' I say. She smiles at me, her eyes shining with happiness. She hands me a shiny badge.

''You were made Prefect!'' she says, hugging me. I gape.

''Wow!'' I say, looking at the shiny badge with smugness '' What about Levine?'' I add.  Mother shakes her head.

''Not Levine, my dear, I'm sorry'' she says, smiling weakly at me. I shrug as she leaves, smling to herself... Good start to the next year, definitely.
