As they were standing there still looking at each other a loud rumble sound was getting louder. Something hit the building at full force shaking it making Miranda fall into sheriff Warren and they hit the ground. When she looked up and over at Nyla the ceiling started to making squeaky noises and then as it all of a sudden caved in over her he rolled Miranda off of him and darted towards her shielding her with his body as the ceiling fell onto them.
It was snow and wood everywhere making it incredibly hard to see them. All Miranda could hear was crying and screaming coming from Nyla.
Miranda started digging through the snow and moving pieces of wood off of them. The sheriff was completely unconscious, but his body was over Nyla protecting her.
She pulled Nyla out and grabbed his sheriff jacket putting it around her then tended to him. He still had a pulse and as she moved more pieces she saw that he was impaled in his side by a piece of wood.
After stabilizing the wood piece she managed to slide him out from under everything and laid him by his desk. She brought Nyla over by them making sure she was warm enough, but she was shivering since now it was snowing inside the hole in the roof.
The wound seemed to had missed any vital organs and or arteries which was a good thing for him. When Miranda tried to pull out the wood he woke up in pain.
"I'm sorry, I'm trying to remove this from you so I can patch it up. It didn't hit anything important forwards what I can tell, but I can't leave it in because it might do more damage. So I need you to bite down on this.....okay?!", Miranda said worried because if she pulled it and it did not an artery or something she was screwed.
"I trust you!", he said touching her hand giving her permission.
"1....2.....3", she pulled straight up and out and luckily nothing squirted out at her just regular normal wound bleeding. "Looks like you lost the fight!", she mocked making him smile and she moved feeling herself tingle.
"Ummm looks like a through and through so I'll pack it and stitch up the back fully then the front likely so I can redo it in a few days."
"You plan on still being with me in a few days?", he asked enjoying her being nervously uncomfortable.
"I just figured there is no way I'll be out of here sooner than later that's all. I have to avoid any stress at all costs so being prepared to be out here is the only way I can function properly. Especially with a 4 year old with me."
"Where is she?", he asked looking behind Miranda not seeing Nyla anymore.
Miranda panicked turning around looking for her and then she saw the door open, getting up fast rubbing outside and she stopped when Nyla was only feet away from a wolf that Miranda figured it was the same one who bit her. She was frozen not knowing what to do.
"Nyla no!"
"Big Puppy!", Nyla smiled taking little steps towards it getting stuck in the snow with each step until she tumbled over head first into the snow and started crying.
When Miranda took a chance and threw her body over Nyla's she heard a gun shot and kept her body down.
"Miranda, yall okay?!", he said while still holding the shot gun. She looked up slowly and the wolf was gone then got up picking up Nyla running back into the station.
"We can't stay here, we have to try and make it up the mountain to the lodge were we can be warm and safe!", he said to her as he shut the door.
Miranda was holding her tight against her chest rocking her back and forth until she was calm.
