a/n: SURPRISE SHAWTYYYY

**

Noah glances over at Benjamin, a smile on his face. "Proud of you."

Benjamin smiles back. "Thank you," He sighs and shrugs his shoulders. "I just...Katen's dad almost killed him. That's...That's intense."

"Very intense. So, you forgave him...Like completely?"

"I wouldn't go that far. But, I guess it's okay? I don't know...I really don't. It's all confusing."

"I get it, babe. I don't know how I would react either."

Benjamin sighs. "I'm glad he found someone. And is getting the help he needs, though. His childhood was tough."

"Me too. I just hope he's actually reflecting on the stuff he's done and...Realizes his impact, rather than just getting forgiveness."

**
Benjamin had gone home to his and Gabi's place. He shuts the door behind himself. "Gabs? I'm home!"

Gabi appears from her bedroom. "Hey, babe. How was dinner? You have to tell me literally everything!"

"Woah. Slow down, let me take my shoes off first."

"I'm sorry but...You told me Katen is gay and then ran off! I need details!" Gabi sits down on the couch.

Benjamin takes his shoes off and walks into the living room to sit next to her. "Oh god. Where do I start?"

"Is his boyfriend nice?"

"He's super nice. And...The way he talks about Katen is like...Crazy. They're so in love. I just...Can't wrap my head around it."

"So what'd he say? About...Why he treated you the way he did."

"He was honestly just afraid of his dad. And...He didn't wanna disappoint him. He told me he was just acting that way cause he was taught to."

"That sucks...But isn't he still accountable for his actions?"

"Yeah. And he knows that. He keeps telling me how he knows he can make his own decisions and he chose to treat me like that. It just makes the whole thing so confusing."

Gabi nods. "I bet. How did Noah take it?"

"We feel the same way, I guess. It's all confusing and weird territory. But, I don't plan to be Katen's like...Best friend or anything."

Gabi shakes her head and lays back against the couch. "Wow. I wonder how many signs we missed in high school."

"Right?!?" Benjamin shakes his head. "All those times. It's so crazy to think about."

**
The next day, Benjamin was getting ready for work. He was hoping today would be better than the last because his first day sucked.

He was looking around his apartment for a jacket he wanted to wear. "Gabs? Have you seen my jacket? The one I wear all the time?"

"No! Check the living room!" She shouts back.

Benjamin groans and walks into the living room. He looks around but doesn't find it. He goes into the kitchen where Gabi was sat eating a yogurt cup.

"It has my work badge. I can't find it anywhere."

"Call Noah. Swing by his place. When do you need to go in?"

"They don't have me working long hours yet so twelve. But I'm just freaking out cause I have no idea where my jacket is."

"Sit." Gabi stands up from the island. "Call Noah, see if you can swing by his place. I'm gonna make you some food so you can calm down."
