HAPPY PRIDE MONTH !!!

"So, what does this mean?" Josè asks as the doctor explains some news to the Martinez family. It has been a few weeks, and doctors have found a significant decrease in Selena's growth, but they don't see any concerning lab results.

Noah nervously bit at his already-bitten nails, his brows furrowed in concern. Benjamin had hoped to make it to this appointment but needed to be at work early to fix some issues with the program he had created.

At the moment, Noah wished Benjamin was here. If he knew anyone that could define these big ass words the doctors use, it would be Benjamin. Dating him was like dating a walking dictionary. And Noah, being someone whose first language isn't English, it was like being with the smartest person on the planet. Mainly when he randomly uses words such as "Impertinent" and "Granular" in a normal conversation.

"Based on the labs we've run," The doctor reiterates, "we've observed a significant decrease in the progression of your metastatic disease. This means that the treatment you've been receiving has been working effectively, and we're seeing positive results."

Noah's eyes widen, a spark of hope igniting in them. "Seriously?" He blurts out. "D-Does this means she's cured? Can she stop the treatment?"

José squeezed Noah's hand, his eyes soft with understanding. "Mijo, let the doctor speak."

"Sorry, sorry," he apologizes sheepishly.

The doctor smiles at them. "Although your response to treatment is promising, we want to ensure that we maintain this progress and continue monitoring your condition closely. I would recommend that we consider a few different options moving forward."

Selena nods her head. "What...other options are there?"

"One option is to continue your current treatment regimen as it has been effective in controlling the disease," the doctor explained. "Another option is to adjust your treatment plan slightly to a maintenance phase, where we may reduce the frequency or intensity of treatment while still closely monitoring your progress."

Selena nods and looks between the doctor, her husband, and Noah. "Okay...okay. Could you explain more about that? Like...the benefits from the different options."

"Of course," The doctor smiles softly. "Continuing your current treatment can help sustain the positive momentum we've achieved and further reduce the risk of disease progression. On the other hand, transitioning to a maintenance phase may help minimize any potential side effects of treatment while still providing effective disease control. Ultimately, the goal is to find the right balance between managing your cancer and maintaining your quality of life."

Selena takes a deep breath. "That makes sense."

José steps forward a bit. "Which would you recommend? Is one option better than the other?"

"Based on the test results, I believe either option could be suitable for you. However, I would like to hear your thoughts and preferences before making any decisions."

The family takes a few seconds to digest the words before Selena speaks up. "Can I have some time? I'd like to...think about it. Talk with family."

"Of course," the doctor offers a smile. "Your condition is currently stable, and I know there can be a lot to hear. Take as much time as you need to discuss it with your family."
