"Do you trust me?"

Dimentio paused.

Did he trust him?

No. He didn't trust anybody. That's how the world worked. Trust nobody. Trusting someone is letting your guard down. A foolish mistake which could only get him burned. He knew the feeling all to well.

But... why did this feel different? Luigi felt different. Sure, he was an idiot for even offering his hand, somewhat implying he himself trusted Dimentio, which on it's own was puzzling. No matter how hard Dimentio tried, he simply couldn't understand.

He waited a moment, looking down at the hand then up at Luigi, when his body deemed it necessary to reach up and take the man in green's hand without Dimentio's brain even telling it to.

And before he knew it, his mouth formed the word,

"Yes..."

He didn't even mean to say it. It was like his body just started making decisions for him without his brain's consent. He wasn't even sure if it was true.

His voice chose to deem it true, but his brain was still unsure.

It was hard to think clearly

"Good," Luigi beamed, slowly pulling him forward into the snow. Dimentio resisted a little, but not enough for it to have any real effect. Just enough to let Luigi know he was uncomfortable, but the smile on Luigi's face seemed to be trying to comfort him despite his efforts. The jester watched with wide eyes as he walked on the pure white ground, his feet gently sinking down a few inches with each step, leaving behind a footprint. If he looked forward he could see Luigi's old footprints from when he first came here a few hours ago. It hadn't been snowing, so they were still there.

Then Dimentio looked up at the clear, dark blue sky while Luigi held his hand, guiding him forward. The moon was nearly full and shining brightly. It reflected off the snow, making the land seem to glow, even without the sun present. But instead of glowing a warm golden color, the land glowed a light blue color making the land seem more mysterious and magical.

There was a very soft breeze that blew Luigi's scarf around, but other than that the night was clear. Ice cold, but clear. Only, with the cloak Dimentio found that the cold didn't bother him quite as much. Yes, he could feel it, but it didn't hurt.

Luigi led the jester out to the bridge over the small blue creek and gestured down to the still water.

"Look down," Luigi said.

Dimentio gave him a confused glance. "Why?" He asked. "There's just water down there."

"You ask too many questions. Just trust me," Luigi laughed. "Please."

Dimentio rolled his eyes and looked down at the water, only instead of just seeing water he saw the sky. The water was so still and clear that the stars and moon reflected off of it, as well as all the snow-covered trees. The creek was like a large mirror.

And then, he could see himself and Luigi, both looking down at it.

Luigi's blue eyes matched the night sky, Dimentio noted. Although he didn't say this out loud. Luigi probably already knew, so there was no point in pointing this out to him.

"Isn't it beautiful?" Luigi asked while Dimentio looked down at it all with wide eyes, taking a moment before turning and looking up at the glowing sky, stars twinkling and dancing. The wind softly brushed through the trees, singing a sweet melody of winter. The winter air was filled with the smell of the evergreen trees which still stood tall despite all the snow and ice atop them.
