Luigi stopped sprinting once he made it to that bridge, delighted to see a few footprints outside. He beamed, knowing that those footprints meant Dimentio had gone outside in the snow while he was gone.
He beamed, knowing that was because of him.
The sun had just set once he arrived at the door. He let out a shaky breath and knocked, not sure what to expect.
But to his surprise, Dimentio opened the door this time. He wasn't lying on the ground, cold and helpless. He wasn't freezing to death anymore. He was standing, and he was almost smiling.
"You came back?" Dimentio questioned.
"Yes. I came back," Luigi chuckled, letting himself in and setting his bag down. Once he was inside, the first thing he noticed was that the fire was lit.
"Hey... did you light the fire all by yourself?!" Luigi asked, somewhat shocked, raising an eyebrow at the red flames dancing around in the contained fireplace.
"For the most part," Dimentio admitted, holding his hands behind his back, almost sounding proud of himself. "I used all the magic I could muster to light it since I didn't quite know how to work the matches you left here, but I set the wood up."
"Well, would you look at that," Luigi muttered, kneeling down by the fire, feeling the heat emit from it. "I'm impressed."
"Thank you." Dimentio nodded, slightly excited to hear someone direct the phrase, 'I'm impressed,' at him. He couldn't recall the last time someone said that to him.
Luigi smiled then pulled out his bag. "Well, I brought you more food and wood. AND, I brought these!" Luigi beamed, holding up his hat and the purple scarf he brought.
"You brought me your hat?" Dimentio questioned, perplexed.
"No. I didn't bring it for you. I brought it for the snowman!"
"What?" Dimentio asked. "Who's that?"
"It's not a person," Luigi laughed. "It's another fun snow thing. Like the snowball fight. You make a man out of snow. Now come on,"
Make a man out of snow? How strange. Dimentio was confused by the idea. How could you turn frozen water into a living being? It was impossible, right?
Luigi chuckled at the jester's confused expression and grabbed Dimentio's arm, pulling him back outside. Dimentio couldn't help but laugh at the man in green's excitement, putting his perplexed feelings aside. "So, how do you 'make a man out of snow?'" Dimentio asked, trying to hide how strange he thought the very idea was.
"Well, first, we need to make the body. I need you to gather a bunch of snow, and start rolling it up. Like this!" Luigi explained, taking some snow and rolling it around.
"The more you roll it, the bigger it'll get." Luigi described as he rolled. "Go ahead. I'll make the bottom. You make the middle, and we both can make the head!"
Dimentio lightly laughed at Luigi, noting how silly this seemed. You use balls of snow to make a man? How odd. But then again, he wanted to see where this was going, so he copied what Luigi had done and gathered some snow, slowly rolling it around. "So you make the man out of three large balls of snow?" Dimentio questioned while rolling the snow around.
"Yep!" Luigi chimed.
"But.... men don't look like that," Dimentio pointed out.
"Well... I know. It's hard to actually make snow look like a real guy. But we can use sticks, rocks, and clothes to make it somewhat resemble a man!"
"Interesting..." Dimentio noted, taking a look at the snowball he was rolling up. As he rolled it around the ground more snow stuck to it, making it increase in size. "Do you think there are any dimensions with men who look like this?" He asked
