Winter came quick and the months between blurred as Felix tried to return to a somewhat normal life. He spent most the days either with Chan or his newly found best friend, Jisung.
Jisung was always there for Felix, through the breakdowns he had, the panic attacks he endured, and when he needed to just talk to someone who wasn't Chan. Jisung was always kind and caring for Felix and didn't treat him any different when he found out what he had experienced.
As far as his relationship with Chan it wasn't easy. They constantly were fighting; Chan unable to understand Felix's conflicted thoughts and feelings and he unable to fully let go of Hyunjin.
Felix kept trying though; he wanted things to work out, and for things to be normal for him.
He began to adopt a schedule where he would try to spend his days busy to keep his thoughts from lingering to Hyunjin, but that was easier said than done. Everything he saw, did, and talked about would remind him of Hyunjin only making the healing of his heart even harder.
Part of his schedule to get back to a normal life was, every week Jisung and him would go on evening walks just before dinner giving them time to talk about their days, things that were bothering them, and just talk. Today was no different from the weeks before and Felix wasn't going to let the winter stop him from his walk and space from Chan.
Grabbing his cane and wrapping a winter cloak around him Felix limped his way to the door. He was embarrassed that he had to use a cane to navigate around but his ankle was weakened and gave out too often causing him to fall easily.
"Chan?" Felix spoke as he neared the door.
"Yes?" Chan's voice echoed from the kitchen area.
"I'm going for my walk with Jisung I'll be back."
Felix began to open the door limping his way out into the cold where he saw Jisung waiting for him. Closing the door behind him Felix hobbled down the stairs of the porch and into the crisp winter air wrapping his cloak closer around his body.
"Hey, Jisung." Felix greeted him with a smile.
"Hey there! The limp is getting better, maybe one day you won't need that!" Jisung encouraged cheerfully knowing it bothered Felix that he had to use the cane.
"Thanks, what path are we taking today?" Felix chuckled while asking the question.
"The usual, it's getting snowy now and I don't want either of us to slip on a rough trail." Jisung smiled as he began to walk forward.
Nodding along, Felix walked side by side to Jisung. The sun was setting making the sky dance with colors of pink and purple making Felix smile at the colors.
"The colors tonight are beautiful aren't they?" Jisung spoke smiling at the sky as they walked.
"Yeah, something warm and calming about the colors." Felix smiled turning his attention back to the path.
"So how are things with you and Chan?" Jisung asked turning his attention to Felix as they walked.
"The same as they have been. We fight a lot, mostly about how 'I haven't moved on'. He just doesn't understand why I haven't 'moved on'. Its not that fucking easy." Felix felt the anger begin to rise in his body.
"Do you want to move on?" Jisung asked.
Felix could feel his heart pummel to his stomach at the question. Of course he wanted to move on, at least that's what he wanted to think. But the constant reminders of Hyunjin and memories of Hyunjin constantly reminded him that he didn't want too.
"I—I don't know." Felix stuttered out.
"I think you know the answer, Felix." Jisung spoke quietly looking at Felix in the eye as they continued.
"I just can't stop thinking about him and I know its fucked up, but I just can't let go of him." Felix sputtered out feeling the emotions building in his chest.
"I don't know what it's like to feel those feelings, and I can imagine it's hard, but what happened was not okay or healthy, Felix. You need to let go of him." Jisung began.
"Jisung..." Felix began to plead.
"I know you aren't in love with Chan. I think you are just making the process of letting go more miserable for you because you jumped back to the past when you need to focus on the now and what you need right now, and I think that is not being with Chan." Jisung spoke stopping mid walk causing Felix to as well.
"I have no one besides you and him." Felix spoke feeling the ball of emotion make its way to his throat.
"And you can still have us, at least I can promise I will be there for you, but I think you need to move out and be honest with Chan. Tell him you aren't feeling that kind of way and it is only making the process more unbearable for you."
The words sat deeply with Felix, it was true.
He wasn't in love with Chan; in fact he was making the process of letting go and moving on harder. Felix was just digging himself into a deeper hole of confusion by staying with Chan.
"You're right..." Felix sighed.
"I usually am." Jisung chuckled as they continued forward.
The two continued their path talking between themselves with occasional breaks of silence allowing the conversation to flow. The sun was getting lower and lower and by the time they neared Chan's house the sun was completely set. Stopping in his tracks Jisung looked at Felix.
"Tell him what you need Felix, it'll be okay. Take care of you first." Jisung spoke poking his finger into Felix's chest.
Nodding to what Jisung had said they bid their goodnights and parted ways for the evening.
Felix began to make his way to the front of Chan's house and hobbling his way up the porch. Feeling his heart racing in his chest, Felix knew he'd have to tell Chan everything he was feeling. The uncertainty of how Chan would react made Felix's stomach churn making him nauseous.
As he placed his hand on the knob of the door a large snap of a branch echoed from the forest near Chan's house.
Flashes of the night he was taken triggered in his mind causing his heart to race at the sound. Removing his hand from the doorknob he turned slowly to face the forest looking to see what made the loud snap.
As he looked across the darkness he couldn't make out what caused the loud snap as the dark of night made things hard to see. Turning his attention back to the door to walk in and make his confrontation with Chan another loud snap rang though out his ears. Feeling his heart beating harshly in his throat, Felix gulped and turned his attention towards the forest again.
Feeling his feet feel that oddly familiar magnetic pull, Felix began to limp his way towards where he heard the snap of the branch.
As he neared the edge of the forest a loud thud of a body hitting the ground and another snap of a branch whispered in his ear causing him to pick up his pace towards the sound.
Pushing his way through the forest Felix was careful to where he stepped not wanting to twist his fragile ankle.
A soft moaning sounded from the near distance causing Felix to stop as his head turned towards the sound. Looking to the right of him in the distance was a frail male like figure curled up on the floor of the forest.
"Oh my god." Felix mumbled as he dropped his cane and ran towards the figure.
As he approached the body Felix placed his hand on the body shaking it to see if who ever it was would wake up.
As he shook the body it rolled over on to its back.
Hyunjin.
