Kiss of Fire

Fire...

It was spreading throughout Felix's veins in an agonizing pain causing him to suck in his breath harshly and blurring his vision.

The feeling of fangs in the tender spot on his neck was uncomfortable and the feeling of something spreading throughout his body was paralyzing. Something was different, he didn't feel blood leaving his body with each heartbeat, but rather something was slowing everything down like he was dying.

Slower and slower his heart thudded making his body go limp feeling like dead weight.

Red, darker than the color of fresh blood, seeped through his vision causing a panic to rise in Felix's chest.

Gasping Felix shot awake. He could feel the sweat dripping down the back of his neck and his breathing irregular. Closing his eyes, Felix focused on his breathing and trying to calm his mind telling himself it was just a dream.

He had never had a dream like that before, one that struck so much fear into him. As he began to calm his mind and body Felix opened his eyes.

The soft glow of a fireplace was sending a dim flicker throughout the room and the crackle of the wood to fill the empty space. Pushing himself up Felix could sense that something was off.

Scanning the room quickly Felix knew exactly where he was, the library. Turning his head to the desk where Hyunjin spent hours drawing revealed that he was nowhere in sight. Felix could feel his heart rise to his throat, throbbing making it hard to focus or breathe.

"If you keep letting your heart race like that I will end up killing you unintentionally." Hyunjin's voice groaned from a dark corner in the room.

"Oh my god, you scared me." Felix jumped, grabbing his heart in response.

Seeing Hyunjin slouched in the chair Felix knew that he needed to let Hyunjin feed from him and soon. Pushing himself from the couch he was on, he began to make his way closer to him. As he grew closer to the slumped figure he could really make out the condition he was in.

Hyunjin's head hung low with his dark hair cascading over his face flat and lifeless. Felix reached out his hand to tuck Hyunjin's hair behind his ear but was stopped as Hyunjin loosely grabbed his wrist.

"Don't." Hyunjin mumbled.

Felix felt Hyunjin's loose grip fall from his wrist as he watched him slump further into the chair, sighing as he did so. Felix could feel his soul crack as he watched Hyunjin crumble before him.

Hyunjin needed to feed but Felix knew the danger of allowing him to feed. When a vampire is this starved of blood they can't control themselves. Helplessness seeped across Felix's heart as he stared at the slumped figure.

"You need to feed." Felix mumbled softly.

"No." Hyunjin snapped without hesitation.

"You can't come 'save me' then starve before my eyes."

Hyunjin flicked his eyes towards Felix exposing the dark red of his eyes. Thinking quickly Felix began to back away from Hyunjin, "Do you trust me?"

Confusion washed over Hyunjin as a new Felix presented himself in front of him. Silence filled the space between the two as he waited for an answer.
