Chapter 35

The two jogged between the tall and mainly left alone buildings, one after the other in silence. Two weeks had past since Dream and George had returned to the Syndicate, the two quickly settling in. Most of the team had warmed up to Dream, seeing how he was no threat whilst other kept their distance. Will still wasn't convinced about him however after talking with George about it, he had agreed to remain neutral.

"We are almost there." He could hear Dreams voice echo in his ear piece. "Are the security barriers down."

"Right. Almost at point B" Karl responded, his voice serious. "And yes, all the ones you mentioned are down. I would still look out though. You can never be too sure."

He didn't expect Phil and Dream to actually let him go on this mission however he somehow managed to go. They needed the most back up they could, Phil not wanting to sent everyone after one person. It was reasonable really, rescuing one person didn't require a lot of people. As long as they were all very careful. The whole mission involved only him, Karl and Dream. Nikki being left at a further away spot in case of the need for back up.

They hoped they wouldn't need it however.

He did have to swear to Dream however that he wouldn't leave his side even for a split second. It was an easy thing to do and if that was all he had to do in order to help get Sapnap, he was going to do it.

As the grand building started coming into view, he could feel his chest tighten. He didn't feel that the first time he had came here however now it felt as if someone was gripping at his chest, slowly tearing it apart. George crouched down, trying to focus on the task at hand.

Dream noticed this as he crouched down besides him "George?" His voice was delicate yet filled with concern. He wished he could see his eyes right now, they would be able to bring some sort of comfort.

"I'm fine. Lets just get it over and done with okay?" He didn't want to worry Dream, he wanted to get Sapnap and get out of there. Far away from this shit hole.

Dream nodded hesitantly as he started to inch further "At point A, about to enter."

They slowly walked along the roof, Dream lifting up a latch and letting George in before he too jumped down into the empty corridor of the base, the hatch creating a decently loud slam as the two quickly got away from the source of the noise.

As George followed Dream in, he couldn't help but worry. Sapnap didn't know they were coming for him. What if Sapnap had already escaped and they were just walking straight into a trap. Maybe Sapnap wouldn't want to leave with them, why would he not want to go with them.

The corridors were just like he remembered them, pale white and elegant walls, occasional paintings here and there.The walls weren't as warm and welcoming as his own, the walls staring at the two as the walked down them, whispering amongst themselves as they earaches.

"On point B" he could hear through his own ear piece "do it as fast as possible. It's too still for comfort."

"Got it." The blonde responded in a whisper.

Dream turned back to look at him, his eyes unfocused for a moment before looking up at the masked male, fixing his goggles over his eyes. He knew that Dream was worried about him, he could see it every time the blonde turned around to check up on him.

As the two crept around the base, they noticed that it was empty... way too empty for comfort. Even when George was being held at the Manberg base, there were plenty of people walking around at any given moment, patrolling the corridors. Yet right now... it was empty.

"Something isn't right..." Dream said under his breath, taking a quick turn, George following close behind.

He couldn't deny that something was definitely feeling off. They had monitored the bases activities, parts of the group taking different shifts to see how active the grounds were. Over the past two weeks, they had been decent, quite a few imports and exports, a few teams being sent out and many of them returning. It all looked like what it was meant to be however right now... it felt like a ghost town.
