Chapter 9: Trouble In Paradise

"Get off me!!" Lil struggled.

That look on Lil's face, zombie above her..every zombie is creepier and uglier than the last one. This one has a lot of red liquid (second name for blood) all over his bottom lip, his red tshirt shined with the sweat of his body. His teeth were yellow and his eyes were barely visible,but that's what you care the least about when more importantly the zombie is missing the skin over his skull.

"You can do this!! Hold his..you know" Kim tried encouraging her.

"He doesn't feel any pain you idiot!" Lil shouted.
I don't know why zombies love hugging Lil.

Lil suddenly pushed the zombie away.
The crazy zombie got up and ran for Fred this time, who's still asleep.

"Ughhh" Steve held the zombie from behind. The zombie was unable to free himself from Steve's grip. "I can't hold him for long"
Steve was utterly surprised by the strength and stamina of this zombie.

"Somebody wake that idiot up!" Lil screamed.

"Where's the gun? Ben's gun?" Linda stood up.

"Grrr.." the zombie was free now!!!
Still running towards Fred...

Meanwhile Fred was still half asleep with a drop of saliva at the corner of his mouth.

Suddenly! Bang!
The zombie fell on the ground.
Ben shot him. The life saver of this chapter.

"Huh? What just happened?" Fred woke up. FINALLY.

"Looks like you just saved us from digging a grave tonight"  Lil narrowed her eyes on him.

"Wha-"

"Shut up!!! What if something happened to you tonight?" Lil suddenly realised she was revealed her soft side and tried covering it up "the blame would've been on me"

"Ok...but how the hell did this guy even get in?!" Steve furiously looked at Lil.
Gosh..you don't see him angry everyday.

"The back door kid" Ben stepped inside after doing the inspection of the "back door".

"Don't look at me,I thought you asked Aron to do it" Lil raised her hands.

"I thought you asked Kim to do it"

" I thought you asked Fred to do it"

"I thought you asked Linda to do it"

"I thought you asked Talitha to do it"

"Oh screw you, it's Tabitha and also,I wasn't even here, I was helping Ben find  more blankets in that room"

"Busted...." Kim whispered.

Steve quietly walked towards Linda "Listen to me, if this ever happens again...you know exactly what will happen to you"

Linda kept quiet.
Harold gave Steve a long stare.

"Steve... c'mon, let's just go to sleep" Lil took his hand.

While everyone was back to bed...some people were busy building chemistry.

"I'm sorry, should've done it myself I mean I'm the incharge...if something happens I can't blame it on anyone else..it's just-" Lil sighed.

"Stop, you can't do everything on own, you know that right?" Steve suddenly lost all his anger. He pulled Lil closer in the blanket. This was the first time Steve found his heart melting because of someone.
He fancies her,Lil is everything he's ever wanted to be.( He underestimates himself sometimes)
But on the other hand, she's also the only one who could make him feel this way...like she's his comfort character.

His hands landed on her waist, sliding up to her cheeks. She blushed a little. This made him confident about his next move.
He pushed himself a little more closer to her lips and just when they were millimetres apart....

"I can't...I'm sorry" Lil pushed him away.

WHAT.JUST.HAPPENED.
What is wrong with you Lil!!! That's Stevenson bloody McKay you just pushed away!!!
Ok.. I need to stop overreacting because I know everything.

"I.." Lil got up and went to another corner.
She borrowed another extra curtain from Ben.

Morning...

Now it's pretty obvious that Steve and Lil were acting weird in the morning.

"Trouble in paradise?" Aron offered his sis a can of beer. He noticed Steve in a corner talking to Kim.

"None of your concern brother" Lil grabbed the can.
Turning to Ben, she said "Hey Ben, I think you should return to MSSC today itself. They're not going to hurt you, everything will be fine and moreover, Annie needs you.."

Ben was emotional again. He knew this was the right thing to do. Even the rest of them agreed.

"Tea kiddo?" Ben offered Lil some tea..
Tabitha was helping Aron pack necessary stuffs for Ben.

"Really Ben? I just had beer" Lil was in no mood.

"I know something's the matter between you and...you know, it's really obvious. You should talk to him kid" Ben confronted her.

"No.... I don't, he's better off without me, I know that, besides I have other things to worry about, we should get going" she said and looked at his tea.
"Ben? Where'd you find those leaves?"

"Cool colour right? These grow in up in the yard opposite to the gas station in the front, I really wanna thank whoever  planted this there before I came here" Ben continued "you know, these were almost hidden behind the hut, now that I'm leaving, I opened it forever today so that they grow up without my help"

"Ben that's not a normal tea leaf.... those are the Plunic leaves!!!" Lil screamed.

"Now what in the world is a Plunic?"
Kim asked.

"It's a plant species that my uncle created. It was made to keep zombies away.."

"It was made from tea leaves?" Fred questioned.

"Yes! They needed a base plant..And it's black in colour because of a reason Ben! God I thought this was extinct" Lil was right, it distracts the zombies like two similar poles.

"Omg, so you're saying we just got a plus point... wait! That's the reason that zombie last night got in through the back door and not front?" Tabitha raised her eyebrows.

"Absolutely!..but wait a minute, a problem always binds up with an advantage" Lil looked at Aron.

"There's a pack of hunters... they're dangerous people...I just don't like them, they are always chasing something that can be useful for them. They've been searching for these leaves for months now that we have lots of them.." Aron exhaled  "we need to hurry!"

"We need to grab as many as possible then before they find it!" Linda ran outside.
Everyone followed.

"Shit.." Lil stopped.

"Hey Aron! Hey Lil! Good to see you again"

The hunters waved at them..
