Chapter 18: Adieu

The wind cooed in sky, as if whispering something, so deep that it was almost incomprehensible.

Lil and Linda were having a little sister chat in a corner.
"I remember that's when you came running to take up the job of an elder sister. Thanks for the tree house though, I wouldn't have ever been able to build it without you" Lil smiled at Linda "you know after you stole my favourite jar of strawberries and ran away..Aron left too"

"Why didn't you ever tell him about this before, the whole story about the antidote?" Linda said.

"He wanted to move on, forget Sarah, he wanted his badboy image back..and the antidote made no sense anymore because there was no going back to Rundaile" Lil was lost in her thoughts "that's he started playing that song? Zombie by Cranberries? I blame myself if he's able to relate to the song"

"Hey..you're on the right side. Atleast Tabitha doesn't blame you for anything" Linda tried consoling her.

On the other corner,Michael and Ben were plotting the plan.

"Even if we succeed in getting the blood of the two categories and get a C-12 on the way..it would take us forever to murder a D-10. I don't think Tabitha has that long" Ben predicted.

"Easy.. you take my blood without murdering me, afterall I'm a D-10 too, the first one" Lil was back to her senses.

"Hmm" Charlie nodded.

"What's this A-B-C-D shit you guys have been talking about?" Fred grabbed a granola bar.
Thankfully, Ben and Michael brought some ration.

"It's a brief concept" Lil explained "the four kinds of zombies are represented with four different alphabets, and are rated on a scale of 10 defining how dangerous they are. So that makes the Rotteye zoms A-4, Siland zoms B-7, Rundaile people C-12 and Alleye a D-10. They're practically their official names"

"Why does Rundaile get a 12?Isn't Alleye the scariest one?" Fred questioned nonchalantly.

"You can see why" Lil pointed at her bite marks "after everything,this is where the two us get bitten, I can still assure you nothing like this would happen in Alleye if we stick with my plan"

"I just realised that you used to hide your grades in biology" Kim looked up.

"Yes I didn't crave for unwanted attention, I wasn't a nerd either,but I do like biology, only biology, no math, not even chemistry" Lil said.

"So now it's all clear everybody, let's get started we don't have much time" Steve gave a pleasing look to Tabitha.

Steve was clearly ignoring Lil. Atleast this is where Lil realises what it felt like when she was ignoring him.
Not only Steve but even Aron was ignoring her too.

Lil took a knife and made a small cut on her arm in order to get some of her blood. "Here, have it Tabitha"

Oh my god...this is gross.

"I can't watch this" Kim turned around and buried her head in Harold's shirt.

"What are we now? Vampires?" Fred sighed as Tabitha gulped the blood instantly.

Yeah girl! If I were you Tabitha..I would've chosen to live like a zombie rather than.. drinking blood.
Bloody hell...

"So it isn't necessary to take all four kinda of blood together at the same time?" Kim asked.

"No, the only thing that matters is...that you TAKE IT, get it in you system before it's too late" Charlie said.

After everything, one thing was completely disturbing Lil. FRED. His hatred. He wasn't this hateful, even if he was expected to show his disappointment..this isn't how we imagined it. He wasn't being himself.

"Okay everybody let's get going. Ben and I came here in separate cars,we knew that for some reason that you guys would tag along and I guess now we'll be taking one back with us and one is all yours Lil" Michael handed her the keys "zombies are all clear on the door side"

"Here are a few extra weapons, guns and knives" Ben presented Steve a bag.

"Just keep an eye on Fred..I sense something" Lil whispered to Linda.

"I'll try my best" Linda hugged her. Oh they didn't even realise when things took a totally different turn between the cousins. Sending Linda with them gave Lil a kind of relief. Linda can do this.

Michael started the car. It was a Jeep grand Cherokee,big enough to fit all the people on their way back to MSSC and Rotteye. Other one was an old, black Toyota Tacoma, perfect for Lil and her four partn-..

"Wait! WTF? It's a pick up truck Michael!" Lil kept a hand on her forehead.

"Chill, it can fit you all in, or some of you can sit behind... c'mon you wouldn't find the perfect sized cars in an apocalypse, I picked up what I first saw" Michael winked as Lil sighed. Again.

Aron and Fred lifted up Tabitha as she managed to nod a goodbye. She knew this could be her final goodbye.
Kim and Harold escorted them outside.

"Aron..." Lil looked at him. He didn't even care to turn around before leaving.

"Hey it's okay..he'll come around" Steve rubbed her shoulders. C'mon, how long can he stay mad at Lil.

"Ahem.." Charlie cleared his throat.

"So let's go!" Steve drifted away.

Oh this is going to be so much fun..a love triangle. He-he-he! I feel like a devil in disguise.
After they left with all the goodbye and stuff, Lil and her team finally decided to leave too.

"Thankfully all the zombies are on the back still waiting for us to get out through that window. So who's driving?" Lil was swinging the eyes on her fingers "because I'm sure as hell not, I hate driving"

"Harold will" Steve suggested "he's a great driver, and we need speed to get out of Rundaile as soon as possible"

"Agreed" Lil threw the keys to Harold.

"I...I don't want sit on the back..like outside on the cargo bed" Kim lowered her voice. She still wasn't comfortable enough with Lil after everything that happened, she wanted to go with Ben but she kept quiet because Harold wanted her to comes with him. And you know..she can never say no to him.

"Well...there is a seat for all five of us inside but I need atleast two people on the cargo bed so that zombies do not climb up and break the glass from behind" Lil chewed her lower lip.

"I'll do it" Steve jumped in for the opportunity.

"And I'll do it. Lil, sit inside with Kim and Harold" Charlie couldn't back off infront of his competition, not like he wanted to, he's been surving on his own in RUNDAILE, he's not afraid of anything anymore.
Go get your girl dude!

Oh this is so fun.

Everybody grabbed the armour as Lil said "Okay..so let's get going bitches!"

Begining of a new turn!!
I'm sooo excited, and I'm sure even you guys are too!

And I know you guys are concerned about both the teams. I assure you that I'll be showing you guys both the sides of the journey...Lil's team and Tabitha's treatment team, one that's continuing and the one that's on their way back.
