Chapter 25: Traitor

"oh, don't worry, he'll be back, he's one of the best survivors I've ever seen" Lil was chill, she didn't brag much about the whole Charlie situation.

"Stop this Charlie drama! Never really liked that one" George always has been a jerk to Charlie "Sit down everyone! Im so excited to see the humans! Long time ya' know"

George has always been a jerk to Charlie, maybe because Lil seems positively and geniunly happy around him. Of course, then how could he possibly succeed in making him look like a monster.

The whole room wasn't really huge but it did have some really unique and expensive gadgets. Scribbled paper on the desks, and loads of pencils with a laptop on the table with several wires behind it, test tubes were all over the place, George was so lost in whatever he was upto that he cooked and served himself in the exact same lab vessels.

Steve was sitting on the little iron cupboard in the corner, having the tea while Harold was listening to the conversation between the girls.
George was busy making tea, since there has been some increase in quantity of guests. But he was still paying attention towards every single moving thing in the room.

"This is uncle George and congratulations he's alive and now we're safe, isn't it?" Lil you're feeling safe right now, I understand, but that's lion's den, that's exactly what we've been tryna avoid!

"Not interested" Kim looked the other way. Yeah girl! Who even wants to meet this guy "but...your voice, I don't know, something's familiar" she looked at Steve. He shrugged.
He was surprisingly quiet.

"So, what do you wanna eat? My uncle's being really sweet today" yeah Lil, after destroying a part of our precious earth, he's being sweet.

"So this is your school huh?" Steve finally said something...

"Yeah, yeah- pretty much. I mean this is the best we could expect from them" Lil gestured towards Kim.

"What?" He was confused.

"Didn't you read?" Lil pointed at the window. The official school gate with the name on it.

Hoffman High School.

Lil, Harold and Steve burst into laughter.
"So this is why you guys never took the name of the school?"

"Hoffman Mansion and then Hoffman institute?" Steve laughed. Sexy...... control!

"One step.. home, two steps back, jump a little, school!" Lil covered her mouth and tried to stop laughing "oh god! I cant-"

No even I have to say this, the great grand Hoffmans, with all due respect, made everything in a way that could benefit this one future grand child.

"Really?You can all judge me" Kim rolled her eyes "but I still say this school has never been biased towards me!"

"Liar, I remember every single time they dropped the idea for your detention. It's practically your school"

"Incorrect, it's my Mom's"

"Yeah, just one sign away"

No wonder why Lil hated it here.
Kim was the most popular girl, not only in the school but in the town.
Her family was the richest one in the town. She's never really had any financial burden, she didn't even know what it was. In easier words, she is one of those girls Olivia Rodrigo was talking about in her song "Jealousy Jealousy".
But it was kinda annoying when people assume what they want to, Kim never asked for any of this, but she had to live with ... yeah you're living the life, you have everything anyone could ever dream of.

"Do you know what's a better topic Lil? Why didn't you come back last night?" Kim stopped the flow of the positive environment. She was annoyed.

"Well uhm.. because I wanted to spend some time with my dearest Uncle" Lil kept wrapped her arms around her uncle.

George is a quiet person, he doesn't speak much, he believes in letting his actions speak. His grey, partly white hairs brings out the perfect evil look when his thin red lips do that spooky left turned smile.
Holy shit! He's wearing that very smile today!

"So your uncle is more important than our safety? This man? Who killed thousands and turned millions?" Kim was steamed up.

"No actually...I wanted to understand..." Lil took out a gun "WHAT THE HELL IS HE UPTO FROM MONTHS HERE"
She was aiming at George.

"Girl, keep it down, we're family" George said, calmly.

"And yet you still don't trust me enough to tell me what are you hiding" Lil moved forward.

"You foolish girl, you're just proving everybody that you're the stupidest Forbes in the family" George still wasn't afraid at all "remember? I'am always one step ahead of the world. I know you Lil, I've watched you grow. I loved you and I wish we did this the easy way"

"Did what?" Lil narrowed her eyes as she spotted Kim, her eyes widened, as if she couldn't believe what she was witnessing. It wasn't fear, it was something else.
Confusion all over her face.

As soon as Lil turned around, she found herself with the same reaction.

Steve was standing behind her with a knife which was now around her neck, ready to be slipped any moment. He immediately injected something in her neck which made her feel weak.
She dropped the gun.

"Lil! Did you just-" yeah Kim he drugged her to make her weak because duh, she's a supernatural creature.

"Steve?-" Lil couldn't speak, it was like a millions of arms inside of her heart were pulling down every single string of affection she's ever felt for Steve. Please just let this be a dream ...

"Sorry if all of that felt too real" Lil knew exactly what he was talking about. Love.

Im still not able to process what just happened.

"You fucking traitor!" Lil shouted "Kim! Harold! Run!"

"No! We can't just leave you" Kim shook her head.

"Yeah, we can't just leave you here"
Harold smiled.
