"-yeah and your kids...and specially at night, guarding the area is really important.. listen Gretta I kinda have to go" Lil waved at the woman on the tree house next to hers.

They've been neighbours for months now and they've been looking out for eachother ever since. Infact they, to eachother, were the only neighbours they have had in the past few months and sometimes, the only other human they'd come across for weeks.

"no, I can't help you" Lil turned around as she picked up a few nails and started to fix the weak spots of her tree house.

Kim stood up "Oh c'mon please, the people in the city are suffering from a similar infection... Even though they did not transform into zombies"

"Yet" Lil tucked her hairs behind her ear.

"What do you mean? How long does it usually takes for a zombie transformation?" Steve was suddenly concerned. He strongly wanted Lil in the team. Lil had everything they needed for this mission, she knew about that place more than anyone.

"We thought it was a few hours. We didn't knew it could be more than that" Fred took out his notes.

"What is that shit? Your surveys and poetries on zoms? You guys have no idea where you are at. According to all that shit in your hand, you just gotta deal with some crazy zombies. But no, it's worse here" Lilian exhaled. She recalled this one time she had to travel for days to look for someone and in those days the post zombie transformation was discovered by the survivors.

"So you are telling us that zombie isn't the only thing out there?" Tabitha asked.

"There are categories" Lil said.

"What category?"

"You guys are in for a real adventure" Lil nodded with a shiny smile.

"Impressionnant!" Fred jumped. He's half French and hates croissants.

"There are four stages out there. All of these stages have different kinds of zombies. I live here because I find the fellas here a little less unpredictable" Lil continued "this is stage one, I call it Rotteye. More like rotten eyes. Zombies here do not have a clear vision and they are just dumb with an average speed"

"Wait a minute, so you mean there are like what? Healthy and clever zombies too?" Steve was confused.

"Yes exactly. That's why the moment I saw you guys I wanted you all to return back to your mommies" Lil said, taunting.

Rotteye was really the safest one. I agree with Lil. The Church town was no longer lit with priests and nuns helping the lost souls. It now had dark aesthetics having a small piece of land including an old church, a cemetery,a lot of trees and a few now abandoned houses.

"We need to find the cure! We can't go back without it" Kim added more weight in her pitch. The world really was in desperate need of a vaccine, a guarantee which would interpret that the life they would would live in the future will not include screams and blood.

"Fine, what's your plan exactly?" Lil sighed. "How are you planning to get back to the city?"

Steve started "We gotta find the cure, and we can only find it with the help of the blood of the first zombie. In easier words, we need to go where it all first started and then find the city school and make it alive to the seaport. We have been told theres a motor boat available there and where the keys are. The motor boat then will get us get back to the city"

"You're kidding me aren't you?" Lil raised her eyebrows.

"I know it might sound stupid but-"

"No, not only it sounds stupid, it is stupid"

"According to the information that we recieved and my calculations, if there's a hope to find any cure, it's right where it all began" Fred said.

"Atleast we've got hope" Tabitha added.

"Alleye....There's no fucking way I'm going back there!" Lil shouted.

"Alleye? You mean our town? You've been there?" Kim asked " I mean after the apocalypse started, you know.."

"Yes, Alleye, last and the most deadliest stage of all. The name clearly says "all eyes" are on you. It has the smartest zoms. More specifically they are half human, they don't like any intruders. Its almost impossible to-...You either die or you become like them" Lil noticed Fred writing down everything she said.

"So how did you make it out of there?"

"Long story" Lil sighed.

"What about the second and third stage?" Fred asked, concentrating on his notes.

"Second stage has the slowest zombies of all, they almost crawl the whole time with their huge claws and their sense of hearing and smell is really strong, most of the survivors find it safer"

"Huh, that would be easy, wouldn't it be?" Fred turned to his friends and waited for an answer. Nobody responded, instead they waited for Lil to complete.

"They might seem easy, but they are dangerous in their own ways. And about the third stage, those zoms are brainles. All they do is eat and more importantly...run. Their speed is unbelievable, no one lives there though"

"Interesting.." Fred mumbled.

"So guys pack your stuffs, we're leaving now. And Lil, we really need your help. Please.." Steve looked right into her eyes.
Lil broke the eye contact. Damn he looks even better on a close-up.

"I don't think so. I made it very clear in the sta.."

"We'll pay you. Like a lot lot. It's for science Lil. What we are doing might be illegal but it for change the fact that we're doing it to save the rest of the world" Tabitha tried convincing her.

Lil took a minute to think. Millions of thoughts flooding in her mind. Either it was this deal or...her old life. Living here wasn't that difficult anymore but things had to change someday. She knew this day would come and wash all her senses with the highly impactful changes. This was her chance to change everything, to get what shes been wanting for months. This might be her one and only shot.

"Done. I get the money. But, ya'll will have to listen to every single instruction I give. Every single one. And I will not tolerate any kind of disrespect. You don't listen to me, and boom, I'm gone. Do it on your own and you will never survive. Am I clear?" Lil declaration.

"Do we even have a choice.." Fred mumbled.

"What?!" Lil burst.

"Nothing, I just said yes. There's nothing to think about here. We need you" Fred half smiled.

"Good. So let's start the mission. There's nothing to worry about, I have a plan" Lil continued "First we need to go to the cemetery. We need to find Dr.John, we might need a key he has. I know exactly where it all started"

"Ok then, let's get started" Steve took his bag as Fred started walking towards the ladder leading to the ground.
While he was admiring the tree house on his way he came across something rather chilling. He saw something he probably shouldn't have...
"Woahh!!! What's there?!! How did they get in here? Shit!" Fred screamed as two zombies covered in blood ran towards him. He fell down as everybody froze....
