This is kinda cheesy and over exaggerated so be warned loll.
I'm happy to inform you that their lunch, to say the least, was incredible.
That as they sat isolated from what seemed like the rest of the world, there was no stopping laughter from gushing through their lips, from smiles being passed from one to the other, from the soft caress of Addie's smooth finger tips igniting the skin of Meredith's thigh. It was everything they had imagined, a year of cruel pain dissolved by the feeling of love.
They were happy. Finally!
Meredith awoke to the gawking of her alarm, the sound causing a moan to escape her mouth. It felt anti-climatic to be awoken for an early shift after the day she had before: like starting school after the two stretched months of relaxation and books. She felt on her bedside table for the feeling of her cell, her hand brushing the side of the metal block. Picking it up, the light shone harshly through to her eyes, causing the comfort of darkness to be erased once again. As her eyes adjusted to the ambush, she noticed a small message printed in her notifications.
Addie: Good morning <3
It's funny how a single text, two words, 11 letters, could change the mood of a person so drastically it's as if they never felt differently. Meredith's heart crashed against her ribs, the unfamiliar flutter emerging in her stomach. She placed the phone calmly against the bedside table, as if the slightest movement could erase the message from having occurred. Suddenly getting up didn't seem so bad.
As Meredith entered into the residents rooms, she hurried to receive her belongings from her locker. She managed to carelessly miss the turn of her roundabout, arriving now for a surgery that started 5 minutes ago. But it didn't matter, not to Meredith anyway, because Addi was leading it and just being in her presence would make the prior rush feel unimportant.
She hurried through the blocked up corridors, her speed repelling the oblivious doctors from around her. She could feel sweat building up against her forehead, the lack of running in her previous dermatology week seemingly having affected her. She spun around a corner, the door to the surgical room entering her view, and as her hands clashed against the wooden door, and she tumbled into the room, the noise from inside seemed to hush at the sight of her.
"Oh crap, Addi I'm so sorry I'm late. I'll go scrub now, shit I hope I didn't interrupt anything. " Meredith spoke between each pants, her hands clasped around her knees in exhaustion. As she turned to leave her colleagues, a voice reached from behind, stopping Meredith in her tracks.
"That's quite alright Dr Grey." Addison articulated, the tone of her voice scratching against the earlobes of Meredith. "If you decide to turn up late to one of my surgeries; unscrubbed, impolite, I think it would better if you didn't turn up at all."
It seemed the whole room froze around Meredith, her along with it, as her body refused to move from its place. She spotted the dark amber eyes of her best friend in the crowd, who seemed just as defeated as she was, unable to give anything but a meer shrug as comfort. She clasped her hands together nervously, a habit formed when she first met Addi, now replicated almost a year later. She didn't know what to do, felt if she left there would be nothing for her, but staying seemed out of the question as the glare of ten other residents burned through her skin. Her feet scraped against the door as she heaved her body away from the room, a force attaching itself between Addi and herself, using all of her energy to break it.
The door slammed shut behind her, the force blocked, her heart broken.
