CHAPTER 35
We were all sitting at the dinner table talking. Zane and I were holding hands under the table
“So how long have you two known each other?” asked my mom
“Well Zane and I have known each other since the first day of school but we didn’t start going out for a while later”
“How long have you two been dating?” she asked
“Umm….I think it’s been five…maybe six months” I looked at Zane who nodded
“Well, it’s really nice to have you home for a while Delilah. It was getting a little…lonely without you here”
“Oh well…I missed you guys” I said giving them a small smile and looking down. “A lot”
Zane gave my hand a squeeze
“Is something wrong Delilah?” asked my dad
I looked up. “No, no, um…nothing, sorry”
“Oh, well. It’s getting late, why don’t you two go to your rooms and get to sleep” said my mom
“Alright. Goodnight mom, dad” I said getting up and giving each of them a hug
Zane and I walked up the stairs and stopped at the top
“Are you going to talk to them about…”
I nodded. “Yeah. I’ll go get my pajamas on them go talk to them”
“Alright then. Good luck” he said kissing my head and walking to the guest room
“Thanks” I said quietly
He gave me a smile over his shoulder and walked into the room
I walked into my room and put my pajama shorts and tank top on over my bra.
I looked at the clock. It was eleven thirty five. My parents should be in my dad’s study right now…
I walked out of my room and down the hall. I stopped at my dad’s study. The door was slightly open. I looked in and saw my parents sitting on the couch talking. I knocked on the doorframe and their heads snapped over to mine
“Delilah, what are you doing? You should be in bed” said my mom
“I wanted to talk to you guys”
“Oh, well come in sweetie” said my dad
I walked in the room and shut the door behind me
I took a seat on the chair facing the couch they were sitting on
“What is it sweetie?” asked my mom
“Well…I wanted to ask you guys what you know about the Affinity”
My parents exchanged worried looks and looked back at me. My dad gulped
“What’s the Affinity?” said my mom shakily
“Mom, don’t lie to me. I want to know what you know about it”
“How do you know about the Affinity?” Asked my dad
“Well I stumbled into the restricted library and found a book on our family history. It said some things about my really great grandfather founding some sort of organization called the Affinity”
“Is that all?” he asked
“Well, no. It also said it was a group who wanted to make all creatures except pure blood wizards, slaves”
