"Good morning, guys!" I groaned with a smile while holding my thumb on the white circle button on my phone, stretching my other arm before running it through my messy hair. The soft white mattress that surrounded my body ruffled as I rolled over to switching on my bed-side lamp. The light showed my puffy eye bags and swollen lips but I smiled it off.

"It's currently... five-oh-two a.m. and we have a very exciting day ahead of us! I'll give you a hint: I'm one step closer to bringing you the biggest content drop you've ever received."

My grin didn't drop when I ended the video like it normally does. Today's the day I've been waiting for since I moved here. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up, it's not like they're going to publish my book on the spot, but them taking time to interview me is an achievement itself.

I tugged the sheets to the side and placed my feet flat on the floor. I pulled on the blind, letting the bright light shine through, making me flinch and cover my eyes. God, I need coffee.

When my eyes readjusted I noticed how pretty the sun looked as it reflected off the opposing apartment blocks' rooftops. Although I miss my hometown back in England, I've found so much beauty in the Upper East Side.
I took a few photos before I found the perfect one, adding it to my Instagram story along with my 'good morning' vlog.

My earthy-toned apartment is small but the lack of furniture makes it spacious as hell. It's not like I need a lot anyways, and besides, I like the dancing space. "Alexa! Shuffle my playlist!"

I fixed my bed covers neatly while Holy Ground by Taylor Swift began to echo through my home. There's really no better way to start your day.

My fluffy socks on the wooden floor helped me slide into the kitchen, going straight to the kettle. My finger pressed the switch and I twirled across the room to the fridge. My eyes scanned my different types of fruits and vegetables. I promised myself I'd be healthy - new home, new career, new me. But my stomach grumbled for something sweet. I blame Dad for giving me my sweet tooth, but I forgive him, considering he gave me a fast metabolism to match it.

The kettle whistled and I decided I'd leave early and stop at the café on my way there. I think I deserve it, right? An early celebration. Maybe I could pick up a box of donuts for the people at the office. First impressions, ya know?
I hummed along to Taylor, knowing damn well I could hit those notes but not wanting to lose my voice.

I stirred the instant coffee granules while I poured boiling water on top of them in my 'eat, sleep, coffee, repeat' mug. Cringe - I know, but Mum found it suiting for me. I've actually grown to love it. It's not too big, not too small and fits nicely in my hand. God, I sound like that one Demi Lovato interview.

I tipped a small amount of milk into my drink, stirring before bringing it to my lips. Subconsciously I sipped the coffee, knowing it would be too hot, but something possessed me to do it anyway. "Shit!"
