I walked into Mr Fitzgerald's office at 8am, on the dot, empty-handed, in my highest heels.

My hair is slicked back in a bun and today I am on a mission - make him beg for me.

No- not like that. Beg for my book. Beg to work with me.
And pay me half a million dollars too.

"Good morning." Jess caught up to me as I reached the spiny door, which I've now learnt is called a revolving door.

"Hey."
We walked up to the front desk together, but didn't even have to talk to the lady at the desk because Samuel was there, waiting for us.

"Good morning, ladies."

Once again, I found myself walking the hallway up to Elijah's office. Jess was deep in conversation with Samuel while I was reciting my lines in my head.

The door opened and there he was, perched at his desk, looking on his computer. Three chairs were now placed across from him, so we took one each.
"Good morning." Jess sounded chirpy.

"Good morning." He replied blandly. "I hear you wanted one more chance." His look faltered to me, like I was his statement's aim.

"Uh n-"

"Yes, we do." Jess placed her hand on my lap to shut me up. "Would you mind hearing me out?"
Oh, here we go again.

Elijah sat back, gesturing widely for Jess to 'go on' before crossing them over his crotch to listen.

This was going to be the performance of a lifetime, and if dinner the other night taught me anything, it was that Jess could talk her way out of quick sand. She can do this.

"I'm sure you've seen the media. Lowen is the centre of most trending hashtags. Yesterday alone, she gained sixty-seven thousand more followers on Instagram. People are asking so many questions. When will this book be released? Who is this mystery... man. Is he featured in this book?"

Elijah actually looked intrigued. Or at least, like he was listening. A face I'm not used to seeing.

"The character Alex is featured towards the end of the book. And although he isn't," she rolled her eyes, "he seems like a hero. Like her soulmate and saviour and whatever. Although he isn't based on you, it would be a simple mistake if people thought that."

"You want me to pretend I'm her- boyfriend, in this book?" He said the word like it was disgusting, and I have to admit, I cringed slightly too.

"No, but if we don't deny that, it would seem like it. Look- what I'm trying to say is, right now is a perfect opportunity. Spotlights are on L, and you too. Do you know how many more people are going to buy this book, just for a snippet your 'relationship'?"

Elijah ran his hands across his face and through his hair. By the time he opened his eyes again he was looking at Samuel.
"It's honestly the smartest thing I've heard in a while."
