I got ready for the party. It was showtime. It was time to finally get back at my snider.. I was so excited. Also nervous. I looked over at my counter, at the pill bottle sitting there. At my last therapy session, my therapist had me go to a psychiatrist to prescribe me some thing as needed for anxiety. I grabbed the bottle and took one. It was my first time trying it. I hoped it would help for tonight.

With my hair in an updo I looked up online, scarce make up done, and wearing the same dress I wore to school, I headed for the door. My dad waved goodbye. I just told him I was going to a party with friends, I didn't elaborate. That was okay , I didn't feel the need to explain to him what was going to go on.

When I opened the door, I didn't expect to see another car sitting in front of the house, waiting for me. I saw them as I walked up to the passenger side and opened it. August smiled at me from the driver side and gestured to the seat.

" What are you doing here?" I asked him, feet rooted to the spot.

" Do you think I don't know the plan? And you think I'm gonna let you go through that alone?" he responded casually, hand resting on the wheel leisurely.

I shrugged. " I really wasn't sure where we stood." I scratched my head awkwardly. I could feel the medicine kicking in. It was relaxing me, making my posture looser, calming my heartbeat.

He raised an eyebrow." We're whatever you want to be Kiley. I mean, we kissed. We can pretend it didn't happen, or..." he trailed off, shrugging.

" i'm just such a broken person. I don't know if you could learn to accept that about me."

He laughed." We're all broken in some way or another. Youknow about my sister. Do you know I'm just as broken as you. Hell, I moved countries because of how broken I was. I'm not gonna judge you. We can start off slow if that's what you need. But I'm always gonna be here for you. And I'm always going to care."

I smiled. A genuine one." You mean it? I'm not too much for you?"

"Of course not," he responded."Now, we're gonna be late."

I happily hopped in the car with him, closing the door behind me. I couldn't help but reach over the console, cup his face, and place a kiss on his lips. He returned the kiss and wrapped his arms around me. I felt safe then; not anxious, not like me. I thought I was someone different, a different version of me in a different world. I felt okay. . And I really hadn't felt okay for a long time.

We finally pulled away from each other. " So, will you be my boyfriend?"

He smiled. " Of course."

With both of us smiling, he put the car in gear and headed towards the party. I twisted my hands in my lap, feeling a little nervous, but less so with the medicine. Maybe my therapist knew what she was talking about. She sent me to a psychiatrist to get the medicine, and I think it was helping. I think it was working.

We got to the party in no time. Cars were lined up and down the street, and in the middle of it all was Stacie's large house. Not necessarily a mansion, but larger than the normal house. We exited the car and headed towards the front entrance. It wasn't a typical teen party with music blasting loud and the lawn lined with cups. No, the scene seemed calm. We entered through the front door, which was already open. There were people sitting on the nice, leather couches in the large, open concept living room. A few people had glasses that were probably liquor I was sure. Stacie was nowhere to be seen. August grabbed my hand and I squeezed his. We walked outside to the pool area. It was dark by this time, the sun had set a while ago. The lights were on in the pool, and there were fairy lights in the outside patio area. There were table set up, and some people were sitting at them and some standing around, talking to each other. There were definitely a lot of people. And some seem to already be drunk, laughing a little bit too loud and acting a little bit too.... well, drunk.

Nina waved me over from the side of a pool. I walked over to see her standing with Kalila and Janessa. Neither of them had cups in their hands. They were both shifting their feet, nervous. We just had a wait for her to come out, and then the real fun would begin. My friends quickly noticed my hands joined with August, and most of them gave me a look.

Kalila, on the other hand, smirked and said, "Finally.. I've been shipping you both forever. I've been telling August to get over himself for a while."

August smacked her arm. I laughed awkwardly.

Finally, the target walked out with her father. This was a party to celebrate her dad's big promotion. I squeezed August's hand tighter. Her dad walked up to the center of the patio. He had a glass in hand, it looked like champagne. Stacie was next to him, looking nice in the skin tight red dress. She had red heels on, lips covered by red lipstick. It made her blue eyes stand out even more. Her blonde hair had curls with a few sections pinned back. She looked beautiful, I wasn't gonna lie. But she was gonna look beautiful for her demise.

" Ladies and gentlemen," her father started. "I'd like to make a toast to business opportunities. And most importantly, to my new fiancé."

And I'd be damned if I could've predicted the lady that stepped up to his arm. It was the principal. She smiled, grabbed his hand with one of hers and waved with the other. I looked over at the others. By the looks on their faces, they had no idea..

"And I'd like to make a toast," Nina began, raising a glass that I didn't know she had or where she got it from. " to the vice principal of our high school."

Stacie looked confused , angry, shocked. The vice principal, lucky for him, was not in attendance. This was gonna feel so good in front of her dad and all his esteemed colleagues and friends. That's why we chose to do it here instead of at school. High school is not forever, but your family is.

" The vice principal is sleeping with our friend Stacie." She pulled out the envelope I had given her, calmly unwrapped it, and pulled out the photo. The grainy, security camera photo of them kissing inside his office, which could be seen through the window on the door. It was a poor image, but it was enough to catch them red handed. "And to Stacie, blackmailing everyone when she had a big secret herself. She didn't think it would get out. She didn't think anyone would know. But we're tired of her, now everyone's going to know."

Nina had her phone in her hand. She was live streaming this at the whole school. Practically the whole school followed her on social media.

Staci went red in the face. She was retreating backward, eyes darting around. . Her father turned to look at her, and surprised everyone at the party by raising his hand smacking her across the face. The sound echoed in silence, and he left a red mark on her face that we could see even in the dim lighting. She had tears streaming down her face.

" How could you?" Her father seethed. " I can't have you ruining my good name. Explain yourself. Why did you think this was a good idea? Actually, I don't wanna hear it. Just go inside, away from me."

Sure enough without a word, she went inside . And just like that, I knew that we had won. I high fiber my friends, but I couldn't help feeling bad for her in a way. Her dad shouldn't of hit her like that. And I felt bad for her, how humiliated she felt. But she deserved it. After everything she had done to me, she deserved it. Right?
