The day following her leave...

LOKI'S POV

"Did she run away?" I ask Thor as I stared up at the sky, hanging my legs over the edge of the building.

"What?" Thor gulps, hoping to change the topic.

"Did she run away from me?" I stare him in the eye, knowing if anyone knew the truth it would be him and Black Widow.

He seemed shocked at my reasoning. Luckily for me, he was never a good liar, "Loki why on earth would you think that?" He breaths, smiling uncomfortably as he tries to look me back in the eye.

I couldn't tell. It was half, "If she ran away, tell her to come back home," I hesitate, "Please brother, I need to know."

He looks away too. We sit there in a hanging silence, knowing she was somewhere out there without me by other choices, hurt. It felt like a stab in the heart, the kind I felt where she'd wail at night uncontrollably. Trembling and kicking nothing. Those nights where I would shush her to bed, smiling as she played with my hair.

"Brother, she will come home," Thor nods to me, giving me a weak smile before leaving the rooftop.

"Please come home to me," I whisper to myself, the city lights flickering on as laughs of couples filled the night sky. From the faraway giggles of children and the breaths of people below.

As I trailed off to bed, Tears welled up in my mind as I began to wonder why on earth brother would hide her reasoning from me unless it was about me. I knew I hadn't been the best lover to her recently but Thor would tell me that. It was partly about me, but who else?

It was painful to think about. The hidden escape from her, no message, little information. Before stepping into my room, I travel aside and lock her door behind me, lying on her perfectly made bed, the smell of her dwelled in her room greatly, I laid in her bed as if they were her arms and let her voice in my mind comfort me to sleep as tears fell.

I finally understood what it meant to love.
