It was four pm when Damian got back to the manor from school. Two hours beforehand Alfred and Bruce left for a play and eight hours prier to that, Tim left on a mission with the Teen Titans.
It took the animals thirty minutes to realize after Alfred and Bruce left that the door to Damian's room..... Was left open.
So for an hour and thirty minutes the animals had free roam over the entire manor.
Some didn't care to leave Damian's room, like the fish, but others thought they were playing Hide n Seek with the Damian.
Titan ran down the stairs and sniffed the air, trying to figure out where Damian's scent was strongest. Of course the obvious answer was in his room, but Titan was just in there, and he was ninety-nine percent sure that Damian was not there.
"Did you check the library?" Garret asked as he slid down the stair railing.
Garret knew full well that Damian was at school, but he enjoyed watching Titan run around after something that wasn't there.
Titan shook his head and scratched his ear "Oh no, books smell like words."
Garret was about to ask what words smell like when Jerry and Titus ran over.
(For those who don't know who Jerry is he's a turkey that is not my character)
"He's not in the dining room but I did find bread" Titus said while Jerry gobbled.
Titan exhaled "Wow, Damian has a good hiding spot. Okay, I'll check the bathroom, you know how everyone disappears in there for a long time"
Titus nodded and said "I guess I can look in Father's office."
They separated and Garret laughed to himself "Idiots" He muttered. Raven flew up to the chandelier and looked at the dogs and turkey who all ran in separate directions.
"What are they doing?" She asked.
Garret rolled over on his stomach while stretching his paws out "They're looking for Damian" The ferret said while looking over his claws before nibbling on them a little.
She sighed "They know he's at school, right?"
"They don't have brains like you and me" Garret said as he stood up to look at her. "Well, maybe Jerry but I think he speaks German so he wouldn't understand anything anyway!"
Raven rolled her eyes then flew off the chandelier "I'm going to the attic, call me when Damian gets home"
Garret watched her leave then decided to see what Titan was doing.
Titan pushed open the bathroom door and stepped in "Damian? Damian?! Are you in here?" He asked while he looked around.
"He's not here" a hissing voice said.
Titan looked around and realized the voice was from the toilet. "Viper is that you?" Titan asked as his tail started to wag a little in excitement.
Viper the snake hardly talked to Titan and just slept all day.
"Yesssss" Viper slurred.
Titan looked into the toilet and sure enough, there was Viper, curled up, looking back at him. "Well, do you know where Damian is than?" Titan asked.
Viper sighed "Yes I do, he's where he always goes during the week."
Titan gasped "The batcave! Thanks Viper"
"What? No, he's at-" But before Viper could finish his sentence Titan was already dashing downstairs again.
Not sure what he was planning on doing once he reached the clock because he couldn't pull the clocks string much less open the glass but luckily he got distracted before he even got to that point.
As it turns out a window was open and a squirrel had gotten into the manor. Not just any squirrel, THE squirrel. The same squirrel that used to mock Titan when he was a puppy because he couldn't jump up the manor steps. Oh yes, Titan had a long history with this squirrel, also squirrels are squirrels so either way Titan was going to chance it.
Titan barked and bolted for the squirrel. The squirrel saw him and jumped up on a shrubbery that Titan pushed over resulting in the pot breaking and dirt getting all over the carpet. Next the vermin climbed up a tapestry in a desperate attempt to get away that Titan eventually brought down with him.
The barking got the attention of Titus who trotted into the room and saw the squirrel too. Now the rodent had to run from two big downs and eventually a turkey.
It didn't take long for the dogs to tear the lower floor of the manor to shreds in the attempt to catch the squirrel. Garret watched and laughed his head off at every move the dogs made.
"Priceless!" Garret cackled as he gasped for air.
Eventually he realized what a mess they were making and decided to go back to Damian's room before anyone got home.
"What are we gonna do when we catch it?" Titus asked between barks.
Titan's tongue dangled out of his mouth as he tried to turn a corner faster but slid on the carpet and crashed into an end table before getting back on track again.
"I don't know" Titan panted "Take turns holding it in our mouths until Damian gets home I guess"
"Good idea" Titan congratulated before the squirrel found a window and scurried out of it quickly as the dogs barked at it.
That was when the front door opened and Damian stepped into the house. He stared at the mess with his mouth open and a backpack on his back.
"Damian!" The dogs exclaimed as they ran over to him excitedly.
"What did you do?!" Damian asked in horror before finally looking at the dogs.
"You see there was a squirrel" Titan explained.
For the next hour Damian tried to clean up before anyone got home but even for his skill level he couldn't get everything in order before Alfred got home and saw the aftermath.
"Oh my" Alfred muttered.
Bruce looked around then sighed "I need coffee" he muttered before stepping over the shattered passed down heirloom vase.
