I decided to share some videos about Claddagh rings. I'm hoping I'll give one to Briar. In Buffy the Vampire Slayer Angel gave Buffy a Claddagh ring.

I love the story of Richard Joyce. So romantic. How he left his love and promised he will be back soon and went on his way to the new world when pirates came and took him. Sold him into slavery in North Africa. He was bought by a man with fancy jewelry and there he learned the art of silversmithing and he made the first ever Claddagh ring. It was named after that small fishing town in Irland where his love lived. He been a slave for 14 or 15 years depending on who tells the story. Then the King at the time of Great Britain and Irland King William said for all his subjects to be free. Richard Joyce is now a free man and can returned to his love. He told his master and his master tried to convinced him to stay. First, he said "If you stay, I'll make you an equal partner. 50/50." Richard thought about it then put his hand in his pocket and felt something in his hand. It was the Claddagh ring and so he turned that offer down and told him that there is a woman that's waiting for him. Or that he hopes is waiting for him after all this time. So, the master had another offer. His daughter for Richard to marry if he wants a woman. Again, Richard thought about it and put his hand back in his pocket where the crown of the Claddagh ring poke at him. He turned that offered down too and there he was on his way back to Irland. Back to Galway and back to his woman he loves. As he got there, he was nervous. He wondered if she has been loyal to him. He was afraid that she would be now married to someone else and maybe even have children of their own. He got to her door and knocked. His heart was racing. Then the door open and there it was his love with a big smile on her face. He went down on his knees and asked her to marry him and she said yes.

Now this ring is more than just an engagement ring or a wedding ring. You could use it as to say you are single or you are in a relationship. People in Irland passes this ring down to every generation so they can stay connected to their families and Irish culture.
