Chapter 2: Tricky Audition

Aurora

"Aurora, what are your musical strengths?" asked Cillian Abner.

I had no idea who they were. I could just see one man and another woman in the audition room. They had their name card. One was Cillian Abner, while the other one was Nina Giselle.

When I got into the audition room, there were plenty of people, so Cillian told everyone to stand outside and Nina would call people one by one. It was my turn now.

"I am a singer and a songwriter. Among the instruments, I can play acoustic guitar only," I responded honestly.

He raised his brows in amusement. "You were chosen from ten thousand teenagers for one spot, yet you know how to play only one instrument?"

When I nodded my head hesitantly, Nina said, "Sing a song you wrote."

I thought about which song I could sing. Once I decided on a song, I told them, "Okay, the song I will sing now was written by me when I turned thirteen and my dads had a huge argument. I thought I would be alone if they got separated, so I expressed my feelings through that song. Thankfully, they resolved their issues, but that song is really close to my heart as it helped me to overcome that bad phase."

"Sounds interesting. What's the name of the song?" Cillian questioned me.

"Strings of love," I replied confidently.

"Okay, your singing will be judged by the artists behind that curtain, and they will decide whether you are good enough for this spot or not. So give your best," Nina told me, pointing her index finger to the maroon curtain behind me.

I didn't know what spot I was applying for, but it didn't matter as long as it was something good for my career—my solo career.

There were plenty of instruments in one corner, so I picked up an acoustic guitar and started playing the tune I created for this song.

Sucking in a deep breath, I started singing.

🎶
If I don't get a chance
To be something in my life
Will you give me everything
I strive?

If I don't do
Whatever you say
Will you accept me
In my way?

I think I am a burden
Your life's biggest hurdle
You want me to leave in a blue
But the strings of love,
Pulls me to you...

Every time I try to move on
Life makes me feel
Like I am a burden
To my family and everyone I own.

Stumbling on stones
Walking alone
Fully broke
Not knowing where to go

Empty promises you did,
Echoes in my mind
Ray of hope?
I don't know where to find

I think I am a burden
Your life's biggest hurdle
You want me to leave in a blue
But the strings of love,
Pulls me to you...

Now that everything's gone
Being a burden
Won't stop me from moving on...

As soon as I finished singing, pin-drop silence filled the room. Nervousness hit me hard this time. I was always nervous before and after my singing, but whenever I sang, I jumped into a different world, filled with music only.

"Well, that was wonderful, Aurora," Nina broke the awkward silence. "I see why you were chosen by LM. What do you think, Cillian?"

Cillian had an impressed look too, yet he soon managed to cover it up with a blank look and said, "Let's wait for the band to decide."
