Chapter 34: The Soda Bomb

Aurora

"What happened, Aura?" Davian asked me, snapping me out of my trance.

I looked at Davian, unable to say anything.

"Aura?" Declan called out, raising his head to look at me.

Davian took the phone from my hand and looked at the text Kiara sent me. I could feel his intense gaze on me, but I didn't dare to look at him.

"What's this supposed to mean? Can you explain this text, Aura?"

When I stayed quiet, Declan asked, "Which text?"

Davian showed him the text, making Declan let out, "Shit!"

"It's too late now," I mumbled, still trying to process everything. "Dee, Jax already knows it, and he must be heartbroken. I should've told him sooner, and I..."

"What the hell is going on?" Davian asked, losing his calm this time.

I was too afraid to answer him. Davian would be so furious at me if he knew that I was aware of everything from the beginning while he remained the most clueless about it.

"Let me tell you," Declan started and narrated everything to Davian.

All this time, Davian just looked at me, and I averted my gaze. He approached me and said, "You knew Jax liked Kiara, but she liked Dee. The least you could do was tell the truth to Jax or warn Kiara. Imagine what Jax might be going through right now."

My heart was filled with instant guilt. I was too late to handle everything.

I raised my head to look at Davian. "Davian, I wanted to—"

He interrupted me, "You could've helped, Aurora."

A tear slid through my eye when I saw the look of heavy disappointment on Davian's face.

I was getting mad at myself. Why was I such an idiot? I could have made the situation so much less messy. At least, I should've warned Kiara, if not telling the truth to Jaxon. Then, she wouldn't have told Jaxon that she liked Declan. She could have rejected him politely, but instead, she chose the harsh way by actually saying the name of the person she liked, which happened to be one of Jaxon's best friends.

"Anyway," Davian sighed and continued, "Whatever happened, we can't change that. So we will talk about this later. Jaxon needs me now."

As he was about to go to Jaxon's room, Declan said, "I will accompany you."

Davian instantly shook his head in denial. "No, Dee. He is angry, so he might not open up if he sees you at this moment, since Kiara kindly mentioned she liked you. I hope you understand."

Declan seemed sad, but he understood the situation, so he didn't say anything further and went to his room.

"Can I tag along then, Davian?" I asked meekly. I knew he was about to say no, so before he could open his mouth, I added, "Look, I know what I did was really wrong and you are angry—"

"Disappointed," he corrected me.

"Well, disappointed in me. But I want to be there for Jax now, as I couldn't help him before. I don't want to repeat this mistake, Davian. Please," I almost begged.

He sighed and gave a curt nod.

I followed him to Jaxon's bedroom. Davian knocked on his door three times, and when he didn't hear any response, he said, "I am coming in, Jax."
