Chapter 23: A Surprising Shock

Aurora

As soon as we were on the rooftop, Davian's eyes fell on our entwined hands, and he immediately let go.

I felt a gush of cold wind hit me once his warm hand wasn't touching mine anymore.

I wished he would hold my hand again and never let go. But I knew my boundaries. Even if I wanted so much more with him, it was way out of my reach.

"I am sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable," Davian spoke up, shifting on his foot awkwardly.

When I looked at his face, embarrassment was visible. To lighten up his mood, I said with a smile, "No, it's totally okay. If I was even slightly uncomfortable, then I would've pried your hand off myself earlier."

I thought I was lightening up his mood, instead, I pushed myself into the gutter of embarrassment with him. Now, he would think that I was comfortable with it.

Aurora, you might as well have fucking said that you loved holding hands with him!

I mean, it was true, but he didn't have to know that. Yet, I had gone and said it out loud. Idiot.

Suddenly, standing on this rooftop was making me feel awkward, and even though we were standing under an open sky, the air felt thick. Probably because Davian and I, both of us, were confused about what to say next after the embarrassment.

"The song sheet," Davian murmured all of a sudden.

When I looked at him, he held out the paper in front of me. It was the song chart.

"You mean, the song chart?" I said, and he nodded his head.

"Let's go through the songs together, shall we?" he broke the painful awkwardness by offering something that just flowed with us.

"Yeah, sure."

We sat on the couch under the gazebo together. He shifted closer to my side so that I could get a better view of the paper. Avoiding the butterflies in my stomach due to the closeness, I shifted my gaze to the paper.

There were small outlines for every song. However, one thing that caught my eyes was episode twelve, the final episode of this season. The song outline for that episode was blank.

"Where is the song outline for the last episode?" I asked Davian.

He took a closer look at the paper. "Maybe they won't give a song in the last episode?"

"That's impossible." I shook my head in denial. "The LM series always gives a twist in the last episode, and the ending song becomes the most hit song of the season."

"You sure are obsessed with their series," he mumbled.

"Of course. I am a true fan," I said in an obvious tone.

"If they really do as you say, then maybe the ending song is a surprise outline for us. We have to write it once we get the script of episode twelve."

"So we have to wait for a long time. They were serious when they said they won't give us major spoilers," I said to him.

He chuckled. "Of course. Oh, and there's a little note for us at the end of this paper."

"What does it say?" I didn't look at the paper anymore and waited for Davian to read it aloud.

"It says to make sure this song chart doesn't get out of the band and we have to be very careful about it."

"Noted." I sucked in a deep breath and looked at his face. "So what do we do now?"

"Let's write the songs for episodes two and three," he suggested. "Episode five will be the song we sang during the audition, so we don't have to work on that."

"What about the song for episode four?" I arched an eyebrow.

"Why don't you see it for yourself?" He shoved the paper in my hand. "You should've paid full attention when we were seeing this chart, Aura."

I rolled my eyes and checked the paper. Episode four had to be a song where Trina would realize that she liked Leven. It needed to be a confession song.

Oh, my God. If we write this song together, Davian would definitely learn about my feelings. Because he knew I wrote songs from my personal experience.

"We can work on this song later. We still have three weeks," I told him. "Since we write songs from our heart, the like realization song should also come from our heart, and for that, we need time to feel something for eac—" I stopped rambling midway, realizing the blunder I had just committed. I wanted to jump off the rooftop right that instant due to the embarrassment.

As afraid as I was to look at Davian's reaction, I slowly raised my head to take a peek, but surprisingly he had a neutral look on his face. Thank God!

"This never happened, okay?" I said to Davian after mustering enough courage to speak to him normally again. I showed him that I zipped my mouth with an imaginary zipper, and this time, he repeated it.

"Sure. This never happened," he said with an adorable smile that could melt any sane person. "Let's work on the other two songs now."

I nodded and handed him my iPad and the pencil.

When Davian started preparing the draft, I couldn't help but steal glances at him.

What was I thinking? 'We need to feel something for each other to write the feelings' realization song,' seriously, Aura? That's the best you got? Stupid!

###

It was evening, and I just got home along with Davian. We finished writing one song and half of the other one.

It was a productive day, and all I wanted was, just to freshen up and lie down on my soft bed.

However, when I was about to open the door of my room, I noticed it was left ajar. That was weird because I always made sure to close my door properly before stepping out of the bedroom every time.

Hesitantly, I went inside my bedroom. When my eyes fell on the comfortable chair in one corner of the room, I shook my head with a sigh. Of course, it's him.

Jaxon was sitting on the chair, seeming lost in deep thought.

"Hey, Jax, what's up? What do I owe you for the visit?" I asked, walking towards him. When he didn't respond, I snapped my fingers in front of his face.

He jumped out of his fantasyland and let out in confusion, "Huh?"

"What happened? What are you doing here?" I furrowed my brows.

"Why? Can't I be here for no reason?"

"Of course, you can, Jax, and you know that. But today, you are giving a different vibe," I expressed.

He arched an eyebrow. "Like?"

I sighed and decided to sit on my bed. "Like, you want to tell me something, but you, at the same time, don't want to tell me something."

Jaxon twitched his lips and said after a minute, "Yes, Aura, you are right. I want to tell you something, but you have to promise me that you won't tell anyone else."

"Not even Davian and Dee?" I couldn't help but ask.

"Not even them. I will tell them myself when the time comes," he informed me, but the calm tone he was using was scaring me a little. I hated seeing him all serious.

I kept my right hand over my chest and said with a smile, "I won't tell anyone, I swear."

"Great." He smiled back at me. "What I want to tell you is..."

"Is...?" I trailed off as the suspense was killing me.

He took a deep breath and finally let out, "I like Kiara."

"Say what?"
