Chapter 21: Forever There For Me

Aurora

"Hey, Davian, listen." I looked at Davian, only to find him staring at the blank document in the notes of my iPad. "Davian," I called him once again.

I was sitting next to him in our songwriting spot—the rooftop.

Before I could call him for the third time, Davian hummed in response.

"Can I sing Strings of Love instead of writing a new song for the first episode?" I suggested. "I mean, I sang that in the band audition, and it's all in a female voice, so..."

He finally looked at me, giving it a thought before saying, "It's not a bad idea. Besides, no one heard that song except B4U."

I smiled. "Great. I will talk to Keth tomorrow about it then. For now, let's work on a different song."

Davian glanced back at the screen of the iPad and sighed. "For which part shall we write a song? The first episode only has one song which you want to fill with Strings of Love. What will we write now?"

I twitched my lips. "You know what? We should tell Keth to give us a list of how many songs we have to write and in what situation. In that way, we can stay prepared."

He nodded his head. "I agree with you, but I think we should write another song as a backup. What if Keth doesn't approve of Strings of Love? Besides, the song has to be situation-based, and I remember you wrote that song when your dads were arguing."

I looked at him in amusement. He paid attention and cared enough to remember what I said in the audition; the thought itself was making my heart flutter.

Davian snapped his fingers in front of me, bringing me out of the spell. "What do you think, Aura?"

"Yeah, I think we should write a new song," I proposed. "Forget I ever gave a suggestion today, okay? This never happened." I showed him that I zipped my mouth with an imaginary zipper.

He chuckled and did the same. "This never happened," he repeated after me, making me smile too. "So let's start working on the song now."

"Okay, but before that, I want to ask you something," I uttered. He patiently waited for me to continue speaking, so I spoke up, "How do you usually write songs? I mean, where do you write them?"

"I write in my diary," he replied. "What about you? Where did you use to write before your iPad?"

"I used to write in the notes on my phone. I am too lazy to write using a pen, to be honest." He shook his head with a smile, hearing my response. I further asked, "Do you want to write in your diary, then? I am okay with it if you want to."

"No, Aura. I think it's better to write the songs in one place. We don't have to compile them later on then. Besides, it's safe to note it on the iPad."

"Okay." I handed him my Apple pencil.

When he took it, his hands brushed off with mine, sending shivers down my spine. I removed my hand abruptly after giving him the pencil and shifted my gaze to Davian's guitar which he brought along with him.

"The song has to be soft yet catchy since it will be solely on acoustic guitar," I let out, stopping the whirlwind of emotions occurring in my heart.

"Yeah, let's start from scratch. I am sure we will come up with something," he commented and started to type something. "Since Trina hails from a rich family, but her life is filled with restrictions, how about we start with this lyric?" He showed me the first lyric he wrote.

I'm stronger than you think I am

"This is a nice start," I mumbled and took the pencil carefully from him, not wanting our hands to brush off again. The iPad remained on his lap as I wrote,

My beauty doesn't define my fame

Davian looked down, getting closer to me to peer at the screen and making me freeze at the closeness. I could feel his warm breath hitting the side of my face. God, this wasn't so intense when we wrote songs together last time here.

"This is nice and goes with the previous line. How about we add a 'No,' at the beginning of this one?"

I listened to him and wrote the way he suggested.

No, my beauty doesn't define my fame

I straightened up to make some distance and sighed. "Now what?"

"How about we do what Keth suggested?" he proposed, and I arched an eyebrow. "You put yourself in your character's shoes and see how you would feel if your family was like that. Then, we can work on it after knowing what you are feeling as Trina."

"That's a nice idea."

I pictured myself as Trina and told Davian how I would want someone to be forever there for me and support me, unlike my family. Davian made small notes about it, and we started writing the song again, but this time, lyrics automatically appeared in our heads.

"Finally, we are done with the song!" I heaved a happy little sigh.

Davian stood up and took his guitar. "Not yet. We are yet to test what music you will play with this song."

"Can't we do this tomorrow?" I whined.

He shook his head. "No procrastinating. Let's complete what we started today."

"Fine," I grumbled.

He sat back on the bench beside me, but his body was now turned towards me, making us face to face. He thought for a moment before starting to strum the guitar as I started to sing.

🎶
I'm stronger than you think I am
No, my beauty doesn't define my fame

I wish someone will be there to hold me
I wish someone will be free
Never too busy
Nor too crazy
But forever there for me

Forever there for me

I want to be what no one approves
I am falling into a familiar groove
Taking all the broken pieces
Putting it back
But the chances decreases
Of getting to the right track

So I wish someone will be there to take me
Away from everything
And let me be
What I am
What I want
Not caring about anything else

Someone who will be
Forever there for me

Forever there for me

As soon as I finished singing the last line, my eyes still remained locked with Davian's. It was as if we were having a staring competition. I felt those familiar sparks hitting me again.

Realizing what I was doing, I averted my gaze.

What the hell was going on? I understood that I had a crush on Davian which was why I acted like this. But why did I feel that Davian was acting the same way?

No, why would he act the same? It wasn't like he felt the same for me. That was nearly impossible.

Am I going crazy?
