Y/N POV
"So, how did you do on the project?" TK asked.
"Great! We passed." I said, smiling.
"That's good." TK said.
"This weekend is gonna be a long one." I sighed.
"We should do something? How about tomorrow, me, you, and Opal go to the mall?" TK said.
"And Peter?" I asked.
TK frowned a little.
"I was hoping it could just be us..." TK muttered.
"Ok ok. I get it." I said.
"Wanna head to the coffee shop?" TK asked.
"Sure! And speaking about coffee shop, I do work tomorrow. But only from 8:15am to 11am. Short shift. So maybe you and Opal could meet there when I get off my shift?" I asked.
"Oh totally. I'm down for that." TK said.
"Ok." I said.
Me and TK walked out of the house and headed to the coffee shop. As we walked, they mostly talked about plans for tomorrow. My mind had wondered back to my fight with my mother this morning. Why did she have to be like this? Why does she hate me so much?
"Y/N, you ok?" TK asked, bringing me out of my daze.
"Oh yeah. Yeah I'm good." I said, smiling.
"You seem upset. Are you?" TK asked, a hint of worry in their voice.
"Of course. I'm just dozing off like usual. You know me. Heh." I said.
"What happened?" They asked, now serious.
"What do you mean? Nothing happened." I said.
"You don't just daze off unless something important is on your mind." TK said.
I sighed. We stopped in front of the coffee shop. I looked down.
"It's just... Me and my mom got in a fight this morning. Mostly cause she found out I stayed with Peter..." I muttered.
"I'm sorry about that, Y/N. Did she... Hurt you?" TK asked, sounding concerned.
"Yes... But it doesn't matter." I said.
TK didn't respond. Instead they pulled me into their arms, hugging me tightly. I felt tears prick into my eyes. I don't know why though. I hugged them back. I know they didn't know how to respond to that.
"How about we head in?" I asked.
"Good idea." They said, pulling away from the hug.
We walked into the shop.
"Thank you, by the way." I said.
"Anything for you Y/N." TK said.
We ordered coffee and sat down, talking some more. I felt better already. I'm just glad I have a friend like TK. I mean yeah, they're a bit overprotective, but they can be really comforting at times and I'm glad they're in my life. Just then my phone went off and I saw I had a text from Steph.
"Wait one second, TK." I said, opening the messaged.
"Did mom say what time she was gonna be home?"
I sighed and typed in my answer. Of course she didn't say when she was gonna be home. She never does. Plus, who really knows if she went to work. She could probably be out getting drugs or at the bar. And I honestly don't care.
"Who was it?" TK asked.
"Just Steph." I said.
"Oh. What does she want?" They asked.
"To know when our mother will be back. But who knows." I said, shrugging a little.
"Since when does she care?" TK asked, laughing a little.
"Probably because she wants to know how much time she'll have the house for herself or something. You know her. Gotta throw a party whenever she gets the chance." I explained, rolling my eyes.
TK and me both laughed for a minute. I looked down at the time. It was already 1:45pm.
"Oh wow. Today is going by fast." I said.
"It's only almost 2. How is that fast?" TK asked.
"I mean, usaully the days are long and dreadful." I said.
"Are you being sarcastic?" TK asked.
"I don't know. Am I?" I asked.
TK narrowed their eyes.
"You play too much." TK said.
I laughed a little.
"I do not." I said.
"Opal would agree with me." TK said.
"Speaking about Opal. We should go visit her. Doesn't her cousins live like 3 blocks from here?" I asked.
"Yeah. And ok. Should we text her and let her know, or surprise her?" TK asked.
"Surprise." I said.
"Ok. Let's go." TK said.
We stood up and walked out of the coffee shop, heading towards Opal's cousins.(735 words)
