Y/N POV

The next morning came quickly. I was honestly dreading school today. I got up and slapped on a hoodie and some sweatpants cause I'm too lazy at the moment to do shit. I walked into the bathroom and brushed my hair and teeth. I then exited the bathroom, grabbing my bag and phone and walking into the kitchen. Steph was at the table, sitting on her phone and drinking coffee. Dad was cooking something.
  "Morning Y/N." My dad said.
"Good morning." I said, walking over to the door.
"You leaving early?" My dad asked, raising a brow.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
He pointed at the time. It was only 6:30am. I didn't have to leave till 7:00am.
"Wow. I guess that means I can sit down and actually have breakfast with you guys." I said, turning and walking back to the table.
Steph smiled. I sat down across from her.
"You get any response yet from the nail salon?" I asked.
"Not yet. I'm hoping this afternoon they call." Steph said.
I nodded.
"Who calls?" My dad asked, walking over and setting plates in front of us.
"I sent in an application for the nearby nail salon." Steph said.
"Really? Wow, I'm glad you're trying to get a job." My dad said.
"Thanks. Do you think I could maybe get a car in the future?" Steph asked.
"Oh so that's what this is about?" My dad asked frowning.
"No no. I honestly wanna change. I was just curious if maybe in the future you'd get me a car." Steph asked.
"We'll see young lady. But you are gonna be 18 soon. You do realize that, right?" My dad said.
Steph nodded. Everything seemed a lot nicer right now. We were all having a normal conversation and eating breakfast together. Maybe my mom was the problem? I felt awful saying that about her but... I don't think I remember the last time things were like this. I sighed. My dad noticed and looked over.
"What's wrong, hun?" My dad asked.
"Is mom the reason things can't be like this always?" I asked.
My dad and sister kinda just stared at me. I could tell they were thinking the same.
"Your mother isn't who she used to be." My dad muttered.
"I wish she'd just be happier." Steph said.
  "Me too." I muttered.
"We all do." My dad said.
The time now read 6:50am. I stood up.
"Well, I'll be off. Cya after school." I said.
  "Cya Y/N." Steph said.
  "Cya." My dad said.
I walked out of the house. I decided to walk to school this time, only because I didn't have work after and I didn't feel like getting gas either. I had totally forgot I was at like empty yesterday. Once I got to school and walked in, I saw Peter sitting at one of the cafeteria tables with his head down. I snuck up behind him and hugged him from behind. Sadly he knew it was me and I didn't get the reaction I was looking for.
"What's up?" He muttered, not taking his head off the table.
"You didn't get scared." I said, frowning.
"Do I look like the type of dumbass to get scared? Who else would hug me like that from behind?" Peter said.
"Who knows. But still. How are you?" I asked, sitting down next to him.
  "Good. You?" He said.
"Oh you know me." I said, chuckling.
He sat up, resting his head on one of his hands.
"Hey Y/N." A familiar voice said.
I looked over and saw TK. I smiled and Peter growled, refusing to look over at them.
"Hey! You made it!" I said.
"Yup." TK said, sitting down next to me.
TK noticed Peter's ticked off expression.
"Oh what goth boy? Were you hoping I'd never come back?" TK asked, sarcastically.
"In fact yes, you prick." Peter growled.
"Hey watch your mouth, Peter." Opal said, sitting down across from us.
"Oh shut it bitch." Peter snarled.
"Can everyone just shut up and be nice for once?" I asked, frowning.
"Maybe if your boyfriend wasn't such a selfish asshole." Opal said.
I sighed.
"You guys are worse than my family right now. And that's not normal." I said.
  "Oh?" Opal muttered.
"Did TK tell you?" I asked.
  "Nope." Opal said.
  "Her mom's missing." TK said.
I looked down.
"They still haven't found her?" Peter asked.
I shook my head.
"My dad filed a report to the police." I said.
"Yikes. That's horrible. I hope they find her." Opal said.
  "Same." I muttered.

TK's POV

After Y/N mentioned that her father reported it to the police, I noticed Peter looked shocked/worried. I mean, it could just be me, but... Somethings up with that freak. I don't feel like mentioning it to Y/N though. I've already been an asshole to her and if I start assuming Peter murdered her mother, she'll surely start ignoring me.
Just then the bell rang. Peter immediately stood up and started walking away.
  "Cya Peter!" Y/N said.
  "Cya." Peter muttered.
"Well, I'll see you guys at lunch." Opal said.
  "Yup. Will do!" Y/N said.
"Cya later you 2." I said.
"Bye TK! Glad you were able to make it today!" Y/N said.
  "Same here!" Opal said.
I smiled, heading to class.
