"The News"

Melissa woke up two weeks later, to nausea hitting her straight away.

Nausea. She ran to the bathroom, head first in toilet bowl.

Once the sickness finished, she got up slowly, walking to the sink to brush her teeth. She put on tennis shorts and a big t-shirt; it was to be a lazy day.

She sat on the couch in the living room downstairs, watching shows from the Capitol, reruns mostly and since it was close to the 68th hunger games, the date being June 25th, they replayed all of them parades, interviews, Victor tours, and Victor balls, since the 65th games.

First was Finnick's, and to her fourteen-year-old Finnick was hot.

A knock on her door made her, stop her thoughts about a fourteen-year-old Finnick and look up from her TV to yell.

"It's open!" Mel called, knowing it was either her mother, Enobaria, or Angie.

The door opened to reveal her mother who came up to her and sat behind to her.

"Melissa, my dear why are you dressed like this." Makayla said, combing her fingers through her daughter's knotted hair, since she didn't brush through it in the morning.

"Because mother, I threw up twice, I have a headache, and I'm hungry even though I have been eating for hours." Melissa expanded leaning back against her mother.

"Well, you said he- uh released so there is a chance you got- well with child." Makayla said trying to put it into words for her daughters liking.

Melissa started crying, silently but still crying. She didn't want to be pregnant, the one person she wanted to have a child with, her boyfriend, lived in another district.

"No no, my dearest, come I have tests in my house come we will go and see." Her mother said, pulling herself and her daughter of the couch and pulling them to Makayla's house.

Inside Makayla's house were twelve children, in the living room, watching the television as it was time to watch the television before they go back to training. Since the children were younger than fifteen, they didn't live in the academy, the oldest was thirteen.

Makayla and Melissa walked upstairs passing the many rooms of the house filled with children and their things

Cato and Caleb
Clove and Celeste
Dylan and Evan
Flora and Fauna
Kevin and Jakob
Juniper and Venus

All the kids share rooms by gender and two in each. Most of the kids, are either orphaned, like Evan, Jakob, and Venus or have parents that sent them here for extra training, like Cato and Clove.

Melissa walked into the bathroom, peed on the stick and waited three minutes, after letting her mother in the room. She was leaning on her mother, while Makayla looked at test, Melissa's head bared in the crook of her neck. Makayla flipped it over.

"I'm going to be a grandmother." Makayla whispered.

"No." Melissa whimpered.

"Yes, my dear, I know you don't want the child now, but you will learn to love them, like I did with Maverick." The older woman said, holding onto her daughter.
