Chapter 5
Janell...
My chest felt heavy and I was way too hot, trying to move I realize that I couldn't, opening my eyes I saw him. Anger hitting me like a ton of brick and I hit him.
"Chill baby girl."
"What are you doing in here Bishop".
" I'm here because I want to be here, and besides this is my bed in my house and my favorite girl is here, and truthfully I just want to be near you".
I place a soft kiss on his cheek. "Bishop you, me, this, it can't happen you know I love you but not like that."
Kissing my forehead he pulls me closer to him and after a few minutes I hear him take a deep breath. " Jay, you know you will always be my favorite girl right."
Shaking my head I say yeah.
"And you know I will always love you right, and no matter what I will be there you baby girl." A tear spills down my face because I now know how he really feels about me and I love him for it. But it can never be between he and I. With my head on Jason Bishop's chest I can hear his heart beat and it's soothing like a steady drum, closing my eyes I drift off into sweet memories.
I was walking home from school with few friends and we heard gun shots. Everyone ran in different directions but I didn't know which way to run. Standing there to stun to do anything I saw a car heading straight towards me. And before I could turn and run I felt hot heat hit me in the shoulder and I fell on top of a hard body. I could hear screaming and crying, but not sure if it was me or someone else I slowly drifted off into the most peaceful sleep. Waking up in the hospital my mom and dad told me that I had been shot and that Jason Bishop saved my life.
Jason Bishop was the cutes 13 year old on the block. He was strong and fast and every girl pretended to date him, and I was no different. We use to go to his dad's church, yeah Bishop was a PK, a preachers kid. Bishop had saved my life by pushing me out of the way.
He was now in ICU because he hit his head on the concrete while allowing me to fall on top of him. I was 10 when this happened. I was in the hospital for five days and every day I would go see Jason, and every day if would pray for him. I would climb onto the chair and lay my head on his chest to make sure that his heart was still beating.
When I was release from the hospital I would wait on my porch each day there after waiting for Bishop to get home, and a few weeks later Jason was home. Jumping off of the porch I raced over to him hugging him as tight as I could I listened to his heart beat.
He hugged me back and tears ran down my face, leaning on tip toes I kissed him right on the lips. He and his parents were looking at me with shock on there face, but I didn't care Jason was home and alive. From the moment of my first kiss until now he's called me baby girl. I think I fell in love that day. But as we grew older things changed but I always knew Bishop was watching out for me.
Feeling him shift I was brought out of my memories.
"You sleep?"
" Naw baby girl, but let's get you back to campus".
Kiss me again on my forehead he releases me and rolls off the bed heading back to his room. Looking into the mirror I can't help but wonder...what if. But knowing Bishop as I do what if isn't good enough. As we approach campus I look in the mirror and I notice that the knots are no longer on my forehead..thank God. I look over to Bishop wondering what he's thinking.
