Melanie...
As tears rush down my face I run into the house, "mom, where are you?" I go up to her room and I find her resting on her chaise lounge, "how could you let Maverick leave like that. Why didn't you make him stay, you could have made him stay."
I'm so angry right now, my parents didn't even put up a fight, and now he's gone again and I'm by myself. My mother says nothing, she lays her head back and closes her eyes. I walk back out of the room and slam the door behind me.
Going into my old room I lay across the bed and tears began to flow, coming hard and strong. My body is racking with pain, but I cant't stop it. I cry for all of my losses, my brother and best friend, my husband and our baby!
I cry for all that I don't have. The pain that's been eaten away at me for months is coming all at once. It feels as if my chest will finally cave in from the pressure, but instead of caving in I give out, and fall into sleep.
"It's a beautiful little girl, what's her name!"
"Donavan, what's her name we have to choose, we've had nine months to decide, and now she's her so what's it going to be" I ask frustrated, but with excitement.
"Ayana Chanel Rodrigues is her name" Donavan says to me and the doctor.
Looking at my husband and then Ayana I'm in love all over again. Realizing how blessed I am I'm over joyed. Ayana starts to cry but she sound so far away and I wonder why I can't reach her. She was just in my arms where did she go I can't see her anymore...
I wake up crying holding the locket that Janell gave me around my neck. I unclasp the locket and open it to see the only picture I have of our baby, tears began to flow as I look at what once was. She was never born, I'd miscarried early on, but each time I dream I dream she's born and I get to hold her and name her. Laying back down I think of Donavan.
"It's my birthday and all I want is to spend the day with you. I'll meet you outside my school near the gym." I say as I hang up the phone.
This is the best birthday ever, sweet 16! Donavan has agreed to meet me and we are going to spend the day together. All I want for my birthday is to finally go on a date with him. Today, I choose to wear my new outfit my mom helped me pick out for my birthday party I know Donavan will love it.
I'm at the doors near the gym and I see a white Infinity come to a stop in the parking lot, and out steps Donavan Rodrigues and my face light up like a Christmas tree. I run walk to him and I can see the hesitation on his face. Hugging me lightly he pulls away to soon.
"Melanie, I came because I didn't want you sitting out her waiting for me. I'm not here to take you out, I can't."
"Donavan, why can't we just hang out, why can't we be, I don't know, we can friends."
"Melanie, I am your friend, I always have been and I always will be, but I'm your brothers best friend and that out weight this, whatever you think this is. You are the sweetest young lady I know, your carrying, beautiful and full of life, but we're not ready for each other. I'm not saying we will never happen, I'm just saying we can't happen now, do you understand. Come here Mel".
I stop in front of him, daring not to move any closer.
"I'm not rejecting you, it's just not our time, we are in the same story just not on the same page right now, do you understand what I'm saying."
Not being able to resist any longer I wrap my arms around his waist and lay my head on his chest, and I silently cry. I've loved Donavan forever it seems like, but I know he's older than me and he's my brothers best friend but it's something special about him, I can feel it in my heart. He's always been around, he was one of the first people we met when we moved and had to start our new life.
