Chapter 2
Maverick...
I heard it again, I knew what it was but I couldn't find it, finally touching the cold object I hit the dot, " what" I listen and then hung up, this is getting old. I tossed the phone onto the bed and slipped on my jeans grabbed my sweater, then the phone and stepped into my sneaks. The walk to the door was long but necessary I didn't feel like leaving out but I had no choice. As the car warmed I looked at my phone noticing that I had missed 3 calls and 2 text, not really caring I pulled out and headed toward the freeway. It was now 2:30 in the morning and I was tired and hungry, looking in the glove compartment I felt the cold metal object, then I felt what I was looking for, the granola bar I'd tossed in there some time ago knowing it would come in handy.

I hit the phone icon on the dash and waited for the call to go through. "Where is he?" I got the address and entered it into the gps I was 2 miles away ending the call I continued toward my destination.

At the dorms
Janell...
It was now 2:45AM and I'm pretty sure that if the building was on fire it would have burned to the ground by now. I was cold, hungry, and tired. I'm pretty sure I was delusional too because people was starting to look better and better especially since one guy had somehow found 2 fold up chairs and a bag of Doritos. Looking at my phone I notice that I had 25 percent charge so I decided to text him, knowing he was still up.
J: you up?
B: why you up?
J: stupid people :(
B: busy call you later...
J: bye

" Its all clear, cross the street and have your Id out so we can scan you in" said the lady with the bull horn. I felt in my pockets noticing that I didn't have my id. I thought how could I have forgotten that, as I was crossing the street not focusing on what I was doing a black charger almost hit me. Hearing the screeching of breaks I looked up like a deer caught in head lights I jumped back. The driver pulls up slowly letting his window down. " You good" he ask. Some guy yells, "she good continue on, nothing to see here" as he puts his hand on my shoulder, his friend slides closer to me brushing against my arm. Looking taken aback I roll my eyes at both of them, I know they aren't tripping.

I look at the driver, his eyes looked tired and he seemed frustrated, I offered a small smile and a nod as he drove off. " You tried it" I said to the two guys as they high fixed each other as if they had won some sort of victory. I walked towards the door looking at my phone, and not noticing that the guys hadn't held the door for me. I hit my head on the glass doors falling back on my butt. The guys had the nerve to turn around and laugh at me as they continued on into the building.

Yep new beginning... this seems so overrated I thought as I rubbed my butt, getting a glance from the two football players from earlier. Men!

The pickup
Maverick...
"I'm hear where you at?" I said into my phone. Getting out of the car I crossed the street and found who I was looking for. Putting my hands in my pockets I looked at what awaited me.

" What are you doing here, your not suppose to be here" I said.

Donavan looked at me with judgmental eyes, but I didn't care I was tired, hungry and frustrated.

" Who called you, I guess it doesn't matter, really" Donavan stated.

No it didn't matter, he was my brother and no matter what, we are their for each other. Helping him up I can smell the alcohol. "Don't start Mav, I know I shouldn't been drinking" Donavan stated. Looking at him I say nothing, starting the car I head back home. Getting into the house I tossed my keys on the counter and grabbed a bottle of water heading to my room.

" I love her man, she's my everything," he said.

Stopping in my tracks I turned and looked at him to tired to get into it tonight I say my good nights heading toward my room.

Back at the Dorm...
Janell...
Finally in my room I look at Ivan and I'm mad as all get out, " why didn't you tell me I had toothpaste on my face" looking at my bear waiting for a response.

I laughed out loud knowing full well if he answered me I would scream my head off. Laying in bed I remembered to pray.

" Lord thank you for this day and new beginnings, and thanks for my family, and loved ones Amen. Oh, and bless the guy who almost hit me tonight allow him to get to his destination safely, Amen."

Mav Apartment...
Closing my door and undressing again I get back in bed. Hearing Don in the bathroom I think about him and what he's going through, I get out of bed and hit my knees.

"Lord thanks for another day, thanks for protection, give my boys guidance and direction and give me wisdom in all things Amen, oh and thanks for giving me reflexes that I didn't hit the girl with the rollers in her hair and the tooth paste on her face Amen."

The IHOP...
Bishop...
"Well ladies it's been real" Bishop said as he stood from the table dropping enough money to cover all the food and a tip. Looking at his phone he notice a text. Calling Mav he gave the information concerning Donavan and put his phone in his pocket.

" The night doesn't have to end here" said the girl with the bob cut.

"Sorry, ladies but it does."

Walking out of IHOP and starting the car, the girls already forgotten I call Don. Knowing he was in a bad space I wanted to be there for him. The phone rang going to voicemail I hung up not bothering to leave a message. Pulling into my space and seeing Mav car I hopped out locking up and heading into the house. We lived in town houses and mine was next door to Maverick. I continued on into the house heading straight to bed.
